Amigas across Canada

The Litz Alfonso Ballet Dance Cuba at this time is touring the icy Canada with the shows Amigas and Cuba Vibra! The experiences arrive to us fresh and in the hand of Liszt, creator of this great company with almost 25 years of existence... "The functions have been spectacular; the company is presented with lots of energy and strength. Public reaction has been very interesting because they connect strongly with the show from the beginning. Also they have much fun with some scenes like Sleepover and Rumbón. Songs like Quizás, quizás and Bésame Mucho interpreted by Niurka Reyes, Sory, Yaima Saez and José Luis Pérez, have made auditoriums sigh. "Other scenes of the show as Neighborhood, Rumbatucada, War, Amigas and, of course, variations of the soloists, have caused a sensation. The audience to dance with us, they cannot help it. As the final blackout is done before the greetings and all stand up and they don’t sit down again. These are reasons why we are very happy. " This is the sixth time that the Company visits Canada, now to offer its art in over 10 cities of its vast geography and such iconic venues such as the Place des...

Lizt Alfonso: “I’m a perfectionist and I ‘m flattered to be so” (+ Video)

After two weeks of sold-out theater, this weekend ends the rerun of Friends by the Lizt Alfonso Ballet at Havana's Karl Marx. Lizt Alfonso , director and choreographer of the popular Cuban company is near perfection once again with a show taken from the total professionalism, no concessions whatsoever, a tour de force of commitment and pure art. Do you think equation preparation plus work equals perfectionism? What do you feel when you are branded as a perfectionist? I think that trying to be a perfectionist is merely seeking to be authentic. The daily work is what leads you to be a little closer to achieving that perfection that will never be achieved. You're always looking for that dream, that the closer you are the farther the goal is. The daily work gives the power to make all the material you have in your hands , in this case dance , music , set design , costumes , even the staff working to support us in this pursuit of perfection . I think the term perfectionist is very good that at a particular time can work against you, but through the years there are stages you overcome; it is a...

Where was Raúl Paz?

After a quieter time with family, study and composition of the new, fresher and colorful album “On April 5 we start again! After a while without much work, just behind the stage doing a new CD that is coming out in May and another for the summer that will be implicit in the next Cuban soap opera. It is a very interesting product with many surprises including the participation of music greats such as Pancho Céspedes. I have been long out ... out of orbit. We make the first concert of 2014 on April 5 in El Sauce, where I haven’t played in three years, which is a place I'm happy because they have restored it and are doing very cool things . "We are restructuring our accompanying orchestra here in Cuba: New music, new musicians. I 'm betting on young, talented big team that will contribute a lot to me in this preparation. " ¨ Number 10 The new album is my tenth album, although we have not yet decided whether to title it as such. It is a very colorful disc and in which we worked a lot. It takes the music up and marks a different time....

Show in Cuba: Don’t say a word, so it will happen

Shows production in Cuba walks through a narrow road; it is not the same saying it than living this "evolution" in flesh for more than twenty years. Josué Garcia, from his beginnings with Carlos Varela and now as director of La Rueda Productions, talks about how many pieces and obstacles he had to move to achieve his dreams as a producer. How do you rate shows production in Cuba today? The changes have always been associated with the development of technology; the higher technology the easier the shows have been. The difference lies in that twenty years ago we worked with more enthusiasm and less economic interest. I think that today the artistic matter is sacrificed in favor of economic concerns. We are trying not to be so, but not by going far apart on how the world works. Technology and development allow you many possibilities and there are many people in this country willing to make better shows but adapting them to the easy way, they even do it alone, and do not do it manually and begin to abandon artistic sensibility of the moment. That's development: working less, earning more... Living in Cuba and producing shows? There is...
