He fundamentally spoke of the Cuban Revolution and the legacy of its leaders, and used phrases by Silvio Rodr\u00edguez and Fidel Castro. He spoke little about the future of the island, and briefly about its present.<\/p>\n<p>These are 15 quotes as a mode of summary:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not here to promise anything.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe mandate given by the people to this legislature is the continuity of the Revolution.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe consider we must maintain the unity that has characterized us all these years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRa\u00fal will head the most important decisions for the present and the future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor us it is totally clear that only the PCC guarantees the Cuban nation\u2019s unity and is the honorable heir of the people\u2019s trust in its leaders.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is no space for a transition that destroys what has been achieved during so many years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt falls on us to be more creative in the discussion of our truths.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2026lies reign today on the world internet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2026the prosperity we owe to ourselves and which we will have to conquer sooner than later.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know of the expectations that a moment like this one creates among our fellow citizens.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCuba\u2019s foreign policy will remain unalterable and Cuba will not make concessions nor will it accept conditionings.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will always be willing to dialogue with those who desire to do so will respect.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt falls on us to correct mistakes and avoid improvisations that annoy the population.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOutside there\u2019s a world that is looking at us with more questions than certainties, which has heard that the Revolution ends with its guerrillas.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Revolution continues ready for all battles, the first to overcome our own indiscipline and mistakes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/tag\/cuban-elections\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-122926\" src=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/wmag\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Banner_separador_cambio_ingl\u00e9s-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In his first public address as Cuba\u2019s Head of State, Miguel D\u00edaz-Canel gave a speech confirming that his presidency will be marked by continuity.
