Today, in the Dolores Hall &#8211; one of the best acoustic venues in Cuba- the V edition of this event was inaugurated by the Cello Plus concert by the duo Cello Capriccioso, made up of Cuban Douglas Vistel and German Almuth Krausser in which participate Eastern Symphony Orchestra as one of the host institutions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">More than three hundred artists and musicians from eleven countries with a vast repertoire of works and genres will participate in this year&#8217;s Festival that will be divided between Santiago de Cuba (from 24 to 26), Pinar del Rio (27) and Havana (from September 28 to October 13).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In addition in Santiago there will be theoretical debates, in this case with the premiere of works by Laureano Fuentes and Cratilio Guerra two nineteenth-century Cuban composers with a strong legacy in sacred and scene music, which has not been sufficiently heard, according to the researcher Miriam Escudero.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Before arriving in Havana, the festival will dedicate a concert to half a century of the death of Ernesto Lecuona, with interpretation in Pinar del Rio of The coffee plantation. The event is intended as a tribute to several individuals and institutions: the 160th anniversary of Jos\u00e9 Mart\u00ed, the bicentenary of Giuseppe Verdi and Richard Wagner, the centenary of Benjamin Britten, 95 birthday of Harold \u00a0Gramatges and Bebo Vald\u00e9s, and 90 of Italo Calvino.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Leo Brouwer, chairman of the event, told OnCuba &#8220;In 2014, maybe we can go to other cities of the island, because our intention is to continue growing, finding musical talent, showing the public new repertoires, dusting scores that, for whatever reason, are left untouched by our musicians. &#8220;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Expect more news in the coming days from the Festival.
