Until this Friday, to send a money order in Cuba it was necessary to go to a post office, fill out the corresponding form and deposit the money. But starting this December 15, Cubans now have a new option.<\/span><\/p>\n

The island\u2019s postal services \u00a0are taking a leap toward the electronic world with the start of this service, <\/span>reported on its website<\/span><\/a> the Correos de Cuba Business Group. To do so, it will use <\/span>PasaRed<\/span><\/a> Cuban banking payment gateway, and other associated banks such as BANDEC and Banco Metropolitano will also intervene in the service.<\/span><\/p>\n

Those who wish to send money through this means must comply with a series of requirements, such as having access to the national network (.cu), having a bank card in Cuban pesos (CUP) and another Telebanca card associated to it, having an email account and registering and authenticating them as a user on <\/span>the digital page<\/span><\/a> of Correos de Cuba.<\/span><\/p>\n

When sending the electronic money order, in addition to the payee\u2019s data, individuals must specify the reason for the money order and they can choose how to notify the payee of the service: by email – with an additional cost of 0.50 cents CUP- or through the mail service, as is traditional.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the case of electronic notifications, these will allow “knowing the state of the money order” and will issue a notice 7, 15 and 21 days after sent if it has not been cashed before. After 30 days, if the money order has not been collected, the amount will be returned to the sender’s card.<\/span><\/p>\n

Users can send several money orders every day, as long as they do not exceed a total of 1,800 CUP and 970 CUP per each operation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Specifications of the national money order service<\/span><\/p>\n

1-Up to 970 pesos CUP can be sent in each operation and several operations can be made in the day, as long as the amount does not exceed 1,800 pesos CUP.<\/span><\/p>\n

2-The rates applied will be maintained at a cost of 1.20 pesos CUP for the rate and the right of 2% of each money order up to 300 pesos CUP sent.<\/span><\/p>\n

3-A 2% bank fee is charged for the total value for operational expenses, as long as that 2% is more than 0.03 cents CUP and less than 5.00 pesos CUP.<\/span><\/p>\n

4-Notification and acknowledgement of receipt is provided by email to the payees and senders, at a cost of 0.50 cents CUP, to the user requesting it.<\/span><\/p>\n

5-The sender will be returned to his\/her card the money orders not collected by the payee 30 days after being sent.<\/span><\/p>\n

6-The sender can request its refund at any time to the card as long as the money order is available for the payment.<\/span><\/p>\n

Steps for the sending of national money orders through e-commerce.<\/span><\/p>\n

1-Accessing the webpage of the Correos de Cuba Business Group <\/span>http:\/\/www.correos.cu<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

2-Registering on the webpage: for this the option of Register must be chosen and the requested data introduced.<\/span><\/p>\n

3-Confirming the registry by accessing the address received through the email provided by the user.<\/span><\/p>\n

4-Entering with your user name and password to use the e-commerce online services of Correos de Cuba.<\/span><\/p>\n

Benefits of using Correos de Cuba\u2019s e-commerce service.<\/span><\/p>\n

1.Having access to the service from any geographical location.<\/span><\/p>\n

2.Facility and speed to send a national money order.<\/span><\/p>\n

3.Not having to go to a post office to carry out the service of sending a money order.<\/span><\/p>\n

4.Notification of the service through email to the sender (and payee if requested) at any time.<\/span><\/p>\n

5.The sender will be able to request at any time the refunding of the amount of the money order or the card, as long as it has not been collected by the payee.<\/span><\/p>\n

The service costs 1.20 CUP for the telegraphic fee plus 2% for the right to send the national money order. A bank fee of 2% of the total value will also be charged for operational expenses, as long as that percentage is more than 0.03 cents CUP and less than 5.00 CUP.<\/span><\/p>\n

The electronic system will also allow you to view the history of the money sent, print a receipt of payment and request a refund of the money to the card, “as long as the money has not been paid or assigned for home delivery payment.”<\/span><\/p>\n

In case of problems, the user can make a claim within a period of up to 180 days, both digitally and by telephone.<\/span><\/p>\n
