M\u00e1s informaci\u00f3n : <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/0tig6gijjw\">https:\/\/t.co\/0tig6gijjw<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Canad\u00e1 en Cuba (@EmbCanCuba) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EmbCanCuba\/status\/1126096957070610433?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 8, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For all those who have existing applications for permanent residence, the processes will be transferred to the Canadian office in Mexico City, where they will communicate directly with applicants in the coming weeks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All questions about existing cases can be directed to the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/immigration-refugees-citizenship\/corporate\/contact-ircc\/offices\/international-visa-offices\/mexico-city.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">office<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in Mexico, the official statement recommends.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>The &#8220;acoustic attacks&#8221; and the cut in personnel<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Last January, Canada had reported on the health status of its diplomats in Havana and the possibility of taking future actions in its embassy in Havana due to the possible &#8220;acoustic attacks.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At that time, they said that &#8220;Canada has positive and constructive relations with Cuba. and since April they had begun to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/mundo\/canada\/canada-retira-familias-de-diplomaticos-de-cuba\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">withdraw<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the relatives of the officials.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Also in November, some media outlets <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/mundo\/canada\/diplomatico-acusa-a-canada-de-callar-lesiones-cerebrales-que-sufrio-en-cuba\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">reported<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that the Canadian government had given orientations to maintain discretion over the dozen cases &#8220;so as not to upset the Cuban government on the island,&#8221; one of the affected people told EFE in anonymity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Cuba-Canada relations declining?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Despite the latest decisions of the Canadian government regarding consular services for Cubans on the island and Ottawa backing interim president Juan Guaid\u00f3 in Venezuela, diplomatic relations between the two countries show no signs of evident deterioration.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Canadian government reiterated that it will not &#8220;recognize or apply&#8221; can be read on the official website along with a brief information on the Zika virus situation on the island and in the region.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Canada has been Cuba\u2019s first tourist market for several years, a favorite destination especially during the winter seasons, as was announced this week at the International Tourism Fair of Havana.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the case of Cubans, traveling to Canada meant an opportunity to study or work, emigration, family visits, as well as a gateway to the United States along the northern border, especially before the elimination of the wet foot-dry foot policy. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The most commented article in our <strong>OnCuba<\/strong> magazine over the years was a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/mundo\/cubanos-cualificados-podran-optar-por-entrada-express-a-canada\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">note<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on the opening of applications for &#8220;express visas&#8221;
