He showed his class a year ago with the Cuban boxing team in the World Boxing Series and this Friday ratified it by giving no options to American Duke Ragan, who accompanied him on the podium with the silver medal. The bronze was shared by Dominican Alexy Miguel De la Cruz and Uruguayan Lucas Alexander Fern\u00e1ndez.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the lightweight division another duel between Cuba and the United States for the gold and a new victory for the island. \u2018El Matador\u2019 Andy Cruz G\u00f3mez, who arrived in Lima as a bronze medalist in the qualifying tournament held last April in Managua, starred in one of the most vibrant fights of the closing of the Games against Keyshawn Davis. The American got the silver medal and Cruz, who turns 24 this August 12, celebrated the title dancing in the middle of the ring before the applause of the public.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Michel Alexander, from Trinidad and Tobago, and Conrad Ryan, from Antigua and Barbuda, were left with the bronze.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cuba&#8217;s fourth gold came in the heavyweight division with Erislandy Sav\u00f3n Cotilla in the fight with Ecuadorian Julio Castillo Torres, who thus contributed the first medal to his country. The bronze medals went to Peruvian Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Lucar Jaimes and Brazilian Abner Teixeira da Silva.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The final result of the Cuban team in Lima exceeded Toronto&#8217;s results four years ago when it won six gold and four silver medals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cuban President Miguel D\u00edaz-Canel acknowledged the team&#8217;s performance through a message on his Twitter account.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"es\" dir=\"ltr\">Excelente actuaci\u00f3n del boxeo cubano en Lima.
