{"id":203752,"date":"2019-08-07T08:57:29","date_gmt":"2019-08-07T12:57:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/?p=203752"},"modified":"2019-08-07T08:57:29","modified_gmt":"2019-08-07T12:57:29","slug":"varadero-wagers-on-more-russian-tourism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/cuba\/varadero-wagers-on-more-russian-tourism\/","title":{"rendered":"Varadero wagers on more Russian tourism"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The world-famous <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/tag\/varadero\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Varadero<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> beach resort is wagering on Russian tourism to increase its number of international visitors in 2019.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Russian tour operator Coral Travel will begin operations in Cuba&#8217;s largest sun and beach destination on August 10, when the first flight of the Royal Flight airline from Moscow will land at the Varadero airport, <em>Prensa Latina (PL) <\/em><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.prensa-latina.cu\/index.php?o=rn&amp;id=296007&amp;SEO=mas-turistas-rusos-disfrutaran-del-balneario-cubano-varadero\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">reported<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The flight, which will have a frequency every ten days, will use a Boeing 777 with capacity for 492 passengers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Cuban Ministry of Tourism (MINTUR) said that this new channel with <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/tag\/rusia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Russia<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8220;will strengthen the growth of the aforementioned market&#8221; and attributed the preference of Russian visitors for the resort to &#8220;the excellence of the tourist services offered.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"gjPvi6KkTr\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/cuba\/cuba-puerta-al-turismo-ruso-a-latinoamerica\/\">Cuba, puerta al turismo ruso a Latinoam\u00e9rica<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"\u00abCuba, puerta al turismo ruso a Latinoam\u00e9rica\u00bb \u2014 OnCubaNews\" src=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/cuba\/cuba-puerta-al-turismo-ruso-a-latinoamerica\/embed\/#?secret=W9DBMcEpTF#?secret=gjPvi6KkTr\" data-secret=\"gjPvi6KkTr\" width=\"500\" height=\"282\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Coral Travel operations in Varadero will be carried out through the Meeting Point Company and under the representation of the local Cubatur travel agency, <em>PL<\/em> noted.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to MINTUR, Russian tourists rank in second place among foreign visitors to the famous beach, only preceded by those from Canada.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Varadero, which has more than 50 hotel facilities and 21,000 rooms, receives more than 1.5 million tourists a year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Russian market is one of the fastest growing for <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/tag\/turismo-en-cuba\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">tourism in Cuba<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. In 2018 it reached around 137,000 visitors, a figure that MINTUR expects to surpass this year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Currently, Cuban tourism is suffering the consequences of the recent measures of the Donald Trump government, which further restricted U.S. travel to the Island and banned U.S. cruise ships from visiting Cuban ports.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is why Cuba <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/cuba\/cuba-reduce-drasticamente-su-pronostico-de-turistas-para-2019\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">drastically reduced<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> its forecast of foreign visitors expected in 2019, when it lowered the initial plan of more than 5 million tourists\u2015an all-time record for the island\u2015to only 4.3 million, and is seeking to boost emerging markets such as Russia, China and Latin America.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The world-famous Varadero beach resort is wagering on Russian tourism to increase its number of international visitors in 2019.
