For the second time, Time<\/em> magazine published its list of the <\/span>world\u2019s 100 best places<\/span><\/a>, which includes the F\u00e1brica de Arte Cubano (FAC) among those chosen in 2019, within the category of places to visit.<\/span><\/p>\n

“As Havana prepares to celebrate its 500th anniversary this year, look to F\u00e1brica to see its cultural future,” says journalist Cady Lang in the <\/span>description of the place<\/span><\/a>, located in an old cooking-oil factory in the heart of the capital\u2019s Vedado neighborhood.<\/span><\/p>\n

The journalist adds that FAC “turned community project has quickly become the city\u2019s buzzy creative hub. Within the cavernous warehouse\u2019s refurbished walls, you\u2019ll find galleries, performance-art spaces and a dance floor….”<\/span><\/p>\n

“It is unimaginable for the whole team and for me that our dear FAC has been chosen among the world\u2019s 100 best places. I think about the visibility that this news can generate for our artistic proposal. For five years we have been offering a risky, less touristic and commercial look of Cuban culture; a living place, a space for creative freedoms and experimentation,” said musician X Alfonso, creator of the project.<\/span><\/p>\n

The artist also assured that the inclusion “reaffirms and demonstrates that despite the great difficulties, needs and disadvantages we have, it can be done! and new forms of management are possible for our future. We must not fear, we must support and open the mind to new possibilities,” concluded the renowned artist.<\/span><\/p>\n

“It is a prize to perseverance, sense of belonging and daily sacrifice,” said Alfonso.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

This is the second list of this type made by the prestigious Time magazine, which is prepared based on the criteria of this media\u2019s publishers and journalists, as well as recognized experts from the cultural industry, who assess the quality, originality, innovation and influence of the chosen sites, that include museums, national parks, art galleries, hotels, cruises, restaurants, among other spaces, organized into three categories: To Visit, To Stay and To Eat&Drink.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
