{"id":208740,"date":"2019-11-05T13:23:36","date_gmt":"2019-11-05T18:23:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/?p=208740"},"modified":"2019-11-05T13:23:36","modified_gmt":"2019-11-05T18:23:36","slug":"chinese-language-to-be-taught-in-cuban-schools","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/cuba\/chinese-language-to-be-taught-in-cuban-schools\/","title":{"rendered":"Chinese language to be taught in Cuban schools"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The governments of Cuba and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/tag\/china\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">China<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> signed this Monday in Havana a bilateral exchange agreement in the area of \u200b\u200b early childhood, special, and technical and professional education.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cuba agreed to enhance the teaching of the Chinese language in selected junior high schools, to which the Ministry of Education of the Asian country will provide teachers, bibliography, equipment and materials, the state-run <em>Agencia Cubana de Noticias (ACN)<\/em> news agency <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.acn.cu\/cuba\/51489-afianzan-cuba-y-china-intercambio-en-la-esfera-educativa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">reported<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The new collaboration also includes China\u2019s granting of some 200 annual places for the island\u2019s students attached to the Ministries of Education and Higher Education, and educational centers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The agreement, which came into effect as of its signature and for a period of two years, will include the bilateral exchange of information on institutions, teaching, research and pedagogical materials, as well as joint tasks of delegations and research groups.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cuban Minister of Education Ena Elsa Vel\u00e1zquez expressed her government&#8217;s interest in strengthening collaboration in various areas of work and levels of education.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"es\" dir=\"ltr\">Realizamos intercambio con la delegaci\u00f3n China presidida por un Viceministro de Educaci\u00f3n. Among them, she referred to the one that seeks to improve the quality of education at each level, with special attention to the History of Cuba subject, and the participation of families and the community in educational processes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For his part, the Chinese deputy minister stressed the importance of consolidating basic education as a guarantee for the rest of the levels, and expressed his wish to learn about the subjects taught in Cuban schools, and about the organization of curricula.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">His Cuban counterpart, Eugenio Gonz\u00e1lez, explained that this agreement opens up new opportunities in the curricular, organizational and technological order of the sector, which are expected to have an impact on the quality of education in both nations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cuba and China maintain close bilateral relations, in which the Asian country stands out as one of the main allies, the island\u2019s second trade partner and collaborator in various technological development projects.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Authorities from both nations had signed some days ago a cooperation agreement with the aim of creating an artificial intelligence center on the island and another to enhance the teaching of the Spanish language.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">EFE \/ OnCuba<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The governments of Cuba and China signed this Monday in Havana a bilateral exchange agreement in the area of \u200b\u200b early childhood, special, and technical and professional education.
