that \u201cthe Kenyan authorities reassured her\u201d that Cuban doctors Landy Rodr\u00edguez and Assel Herrera, kidnapped in Kenya on April 12, \u201care well\u201d and that \u201cefforts will continue for their safe return.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The two Cuban doctors were allegedly <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/tag\/secuestro-medicos-kenia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">kidnapped<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by members of the Al-Shabaab terrorist group in the town of Mandera, in an area of \u200b\u200bKenya bordering Somalia and Ethiopia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Chapman said, quoted by the <\/span><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cubadebate.cu\/noticias\/2019\/12\/16\/medicos-secuestrados-en-kenya-estan-bien-y-continuan-los-esfuerzos-para-su-regreso-a-cuba\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cubadebate<\/span><\/a><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> site, that the Cuban government\u2019s leadership devotes \u201cpermanent attention\u201d to this issue and that its priority is \u201cthat they return safe and sound to the homeland.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cOur country, our government and the Ministry of Public Health are constantly kept up to date on how both doctors are and are in contact with their families in Cuba,\u201d said the vice president in a meeting with the press.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"JsuP7PVeDB\"><p><a Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific (ACP), held in Nairobi, the Kenyan capital, Chapman met with several authorities in the country, including President Uhuru Kenyatta.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The vice president conveyed the Cuban authorities\u2019 gratitude to the Kenyan government \u201cfor the efforts they are carrying out to try to achieve the safe return to Cuba\u201d of Rodr\u00edguez and Herrera, captured in an operation in which the guard who was escorting them to the Mandera hospital was killed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Cuban Foreign Ministry reported on December 11 on Chapman&#8217;s meeting with Uhuru Kenyatta, but then the press release did not mention that the kidnapped doctors were discussed at that meeting.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"Z4qyJi7tqQ\"><p><a the press this Monday, Chapman assessed the impact of the Cuban medical brigade in Kenya as \u201cvery positive,\u201d adding that the Cuban delegation she led held a meeting with the medical collaborators in Nairobi, who \u201care well and expressed their commitment to continue working, serving their country and the people of Kenya.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The vice president of the Council of Ministers explained that the doctors are safe and that some who were working at the border were relocated closer to the capital. \u201cThey ratified the
