{"id":211075,"date":"2019-12-20T12:13:05","date_gmt":"2019-12-20T17:13:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/?p=211075"},"modified":"2019-12-20T12:13:05","modified_gmt":"2019-12-20T17:13:05","slug":"cuban-boxing-will-look-for-places-for-tokyo-2020-in-argentina","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/sports\/boxing\/cuban-boxing-will-look-for-places-for-tokyo-2020-in-argentina\/","title":{"rendered":"Cuban boxing will look for places for Tokyo 2020 in Argentina"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/tag\/boxeo-cubano\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cuban boxing<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will look for places for the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/tag\/tokio-2020\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tokyo 2020<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Olympic Games in all divisions during the America qualifying bout convened for early March in Buenos Aires, the island\u2019s boxing commission reported this Wednesday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In that event there will be 33 boxers validated for the Olympic event: five in 52, 57 and 63 kg, four in 69, 75 and 81, and three in 91 and over 91 kg.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As part of their preparation for the Olympic event, a selection of Cuban boxers will be trained in the city of Almaty, in Kazakhstan, from January 5 to 20, according to the national boxing commissioner, Alberto Puig de la Barca, cited by the Jit sports site.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"mAJZsswYBT\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/deportes\/boxeo\/boxear-en-el-trejo\/\">Boxear en el Trejo<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"\u00abBoxear en el Trejo\u00bb \u2014 OnCubaNews\" src=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/deportes\/boxeo\/boxear-en-el-trejo\/embed\/#?secret=sHT0iBHQo4#?secret=mAJZsswYBT\" data-secret=\"mAJZsswYBT\" width=\"500\" height=\"282\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Puig said that the preparatory segment will take place in a training center of the international association in Almaty.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The official did not report on who will be the fighters in that training, but indicated that the final decisions in this regard will be made after the Playa Gir\u00f3n national tournament, which brought together the island\u2019s main fighters and that concluded this Wednesday in the city of Camag\u00fcey.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cuban boxers described as &#8220;strategic&#8221; will participate in this training that will bring together top level athletes from several countries, which will make it possible to hold combat schools and other actions with representatives of different styles, Puig explained.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition, the official announced that Jorge Moirant, light welterweight, as well as Herich Ruiz and Julio Castillo will be trained in Trinidad and Tobago.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Those three boxers will remain from January 19 and for 45 days in that preparation accompanied by coach Enrique Steiner, who led them in a recent tournament in that country.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cuban boxing will look for places for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games in all divisions during the America qualifying bout convened for early March in Buenos Aires, the island\u2019s boxing commission reported this Wednesday.
