The government of Qatar donated a batch of 60 containers for garbage collection to schools in Havana, the Qatari embassy on the island informed <\/span>OnCuba<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The containers were donated by the Ministry of Municipality and Environment of the State of Qatar to the Ministry of Education of Cuba, through the diplomatic mission of the Arab country in Havana and the environmental group \u201cCubanos en la Red.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The donation will go to 20 schools in the Havana, Playa, Plaza and Centro Habana municipalities, and comprises containers of different colors, according to the type of waste collected in them, be it glass, paper, plastic or organic materials.<\/span><\/p>\n

The aid seeks to promote environmental awareness among children and young people \u201cto raise awareness about the importance of taking care of our environment and practicing activities such as the classification of waste, the use of alternative energy, the care of water use and daily customs that do not damage the planet,\u201d said the note from the Qatari embassy.<\/span><\/p>\n

This is Qatar\u2019s second donation to Cuba in recent days, after the granting of 100,000 dollars to the authorities of <\/span>Havana<\/span><\/a> for the recovery of the damages caused by the <\/span>tornado<\/span><\/a> that hit the Cuban capital a year ago.<\/span><\/p>\n
