So far no material or human damage has been reported. Because of the mechanism of lateral displacement of the fault, which is called Falla Oriente, no danger of a tsunami is expected,\u201d said Arango, who urged to \u201ckeep calm and keep abreast of the information through the media.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Previously, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported that it was a 7.7-degree quake, while other sources gave figures between 7.6 and 7.3. Even in Miami, in South Florida (USA), residents and office workers evacuated several buildings. In the Cayman Islands it caused cracks in roads and apparently a drain leak. So far there are no reports of deaths, wounded or more severe damages in the region.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Replicas of the earthquake have also been recorded, several of them over 6.0 degrees, a normal phenomenon according to Dr. Arango, who explained that after the relative seismic calm of the last three years a significant tremor in the zone was expected due to accumulated energy.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Residents in Downtown Miami, Brickell, Dadeland and Aventura, mainly in high rises, have reported swaying.
