Miguel D\u00edaz-Canel Berm\u00fadez (@DiazCanelB) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DiazCanelB\/status\/1226846245983002624?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 10, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For this, experiences were taken from university centers such as the Enrique Jos\u00e9 Varona Higher Pedagogical Institute, in Havana, and the universities of Pinar del R\u00edo, Oriente, Las Villas and the Jos\u00e9 Antonio Echeverr\u00eda Technological, known as the Cujae, also in the Cuban capital.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition, it was reported that the Finca de los Monos technology park, newly opened during the celebrations for the half millennium of Havana, \u201cis preparing the first courses to introduce children to the fascinating world of robotics, which will be ready for April during eight weeks,\u201d according to the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Granma<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> report, which does not give more details about the proposals for the introduction of robotics in the island\u2019s schools or at what educational levels they would be implemented.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, \u201cPalmiche,\u201d a robot developed by students of the Robotics and Mechatronics Group of the Cujae, <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cubadebate.cu\/noticias\/2019\/11\/23\/robot-cubano-gana-dos-premios-en-certamen-internacional-y-clasifica-a-mundial-en-japon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">won two prizes<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the Student Innovation and Robotics Competition held in Santiago, Chile, a milestone in the development of Cuban robotics.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/twitter.com\/CujaeRedSocial\/status\/1198367854854311936?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1198367854854311936&#038;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Foncubanews.com%2Fcuba%2Fllega-la-robotica-a-las-escuelas-cubanas%2F<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Last December, Fernando Ortega, national director of Educational Technology of the Ministry of Education (MINED), said his ministry is working on the connection of almost 3,500 schools to the telematics network of his ministry, after linking more than 300 centers between municipal departments, pioneer palaces and homes for children without parental protection.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ortega said then that MINED is \u201copenly committed\u201d to the training of teachers in the modern technological universe, \u201cso that they can acquire digital skills to match the skills of the students.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/cuba\/cuba-apuesta-por-la-informatizacion-de-su-sistema-educacional\/<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition, among the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mined.gob.cu\/tecnologia-educativa\/informatizacion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">priorities<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the process of computerization of the Cuban educational system, he cited the development and deployment of computer resources for the computer network and the telematics services of the National Education System.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, he acknowledged that \u201ccurrently it is difficult for MINED to acquire tablets, computers and smart classrooms, which could favor the teaching-learning process,\u201d due to problems with financing as well as the difficulties resulting from the U.S. embargo. <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Although it sounds like science fiction, robotics could soon reach schools in Cuba.
