{"id":214681,"date":"2020-02-29T13:22:21","date_gmt":"2020-02-29T18:22:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/?p=214681"},"modified":"2020-02-29T13:22:21","modified_gmt":"2020-02-29T18:22:21","slug":"cuban-press-denies-rumors-about-cases-of-coronavirus-on-island","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/cuba\/cuban-press-denies-rumors-about-cases-of-coronavirus-on-island\/","title":{"rendered":"Cuban press denies rumors about cases of coronavirus on island"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Cuban press denied this Friday rumors about the existence of three <a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/tag\/coronavirus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Covid-19 coronavirus<\/a> cases in Cuba, which have circulated in social networks and in media outside the island.<\/p>\n<p>The rumors, which have become viral, state that three Cubans who returned from Italy with symptoms of respiratory disease had been admitted to the Pedro Kour\u00ed Institute of Tropical Medicine (IPK) in Havana.<\/p>\n<p>However, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/juventud-t%C3%A9cnica\/verifica-jt-no-hay-pacientes-ingresados-en-el-ipk-con-coronavirus-698a7ceabb6c\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Juventud T\u00e9cnica reported<\/a><\/em> having contacted the communication team of the medical institution, which assured the magazine that this information is false and that the center was already aware of the comments.<\/p>\n<p>For his part, Cuban Minister of Health Jos\u00e9 \u00c1ngel Portal published this Friday afternoon that Cuba still hadn\u2019t reported cases of coronavirus and maintained a \u201cstrict epidemiological surveillance and border health control to minimize the risk of the virus\u2019 entry.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"es\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Cuba?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Cuba<\/a> contin\u00faa sin reportar casos de <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/coronavirus?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#coronavirus<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/COVID19?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#COVID19<\/a>.
