The coronavirus statistics in Cuba are as follows: 46 cases of recent infections and 2 deaths. This is what was reported this Tuesday morning by the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) authorities at the press conference, which has already become regular since shortly before measures to contain the spread of the pandemic on the island intensified.<\/p>\n

There are already a total of 11 dead and 396 infected cases, but the number of hospitalizations has again gone up, indicating a careful observation of the issue that can get out of control with the slightest carelessness.<\/p>\n

Total hospitalizations are 1,752 patients; another 15,762 people are under primary healthcare surveillance in their homes.<\/p>\n

The 46 confirmed cases were Cuban. Of these, one has a source of infection abroad (United States); 31 were contacts of confirmed cases; 13 of contacts of travelers from abroad; and the source of infection of one of them is being investigated.<\/p>\n

The residence by provinces and municipalities of the new cases is as follows:<\/p>\n

Pinar del R\u00edo: 1 (from the Vi\u00f1ales municipality); Artemisa: 1 (from the Bauta municipality); Mayabeque: 1 (from the Melena del Sur municipality); Havana: 6 (3 from the Cerro municipality; Playa, Cotorro and Old Havana, with 1 each); Matanzas: 1 (from the Matanzas municipality); Villa Clara: 4 (2 from the Camajuan\u00ed municipality, 1 from Cifuentes and 1 from Placeta); Ciego de \u00c1vila: 20 (11 from Florencia municipality, 5 from Venezuela, 2 from Mor\u00f3n and 2 from Baragu\u00e1); Camag\u00fcey: 3 (from the Camajuan\u00ed municipality); Holgu\u00edn: 2 (1 from the Gibara municipality and 1 from Banes); Santiago de Cuba: 3 (from the municipality of Santiago de Cuba); and Isla de la Juventud Special Municipality: 4.<\/p>\n

The two deceased included in the information also published on the MINSAP website are<\/a>: a 101-year-old woman from Havana, a resident of the Playa municipality, contact of a confirmed case. She was admitted to the Salvador Allende Hospital and had inflammatory lesions in both lungs, elevated creatinine and light respiratory failure. She developed a \u201chemodynamically unstable upper digestive bleeding\u201d and died at ten in the morning yesterday, this Monday.<\/p>\n

About noon, the 68-year-old patient from Gibara, admitted to the Gustavo Alderegu\u00eda Lima General Hospital, in Gibara, also died. His diagnosis was \u201cdecompensated chronic obstructive pulmonary disease from a bronchopneumonia.\u201d He was transferred to the Luc\u00eda \u00cd\u00f1iguez Clinical Surgical Hospital, where he developed a \u201cclinical, radiological and hemodynamically unstable deterioration.\u201d<\/p>\n

Asked by OnCuba<\/strong> about confirmed cases whose source of contagion is foreign travelers, which means they were not detected as positive with the possibility of asymptomatic disease, Dr. Francisco Dur\u00e1n, director of epidemiology of MINSAP, said that, in short, in relation to ties with foreigners, \u201csometimes their positivity is identified, at other times they leave before this, and at others it is not confirmed on the first occasions.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a disease that, as we always say, occurs with a group of people who have the virus who have no symptoms and who transmit the virus, which is what sometimes cannot be associated. But, unquestionably, the fact of a relationship with a foreigner who has arrived 14 days before the contagion was caused, from a country of high risk, is an epidemiological element of great value,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Of the 396 patients diagnosed with the disease until the closure of this information, 340 have a stable clinical evolution.<\/p>\n

Three evacuees and 27 discharges are reported, nine more yesterday (six in Pinar del R\u00edo and three in Holgu\u00edn). Twelve patients remain in critical condition and three in serious condition.<\/p>\n

The MINSAP report explains that in the last few hours 1,556 cases were studied for COVID-19, and to date the country has made a total of 7,554 tests.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
