The news was confirmed by the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) at a press conference, while it was published on all the ministry\u2019s networks.<\/p>\n<p>Now, the number of infected amount to 515 positive cases with confirmation until midnight yesterday, April 8, of 58 new contagions.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"es\" dir=\"ltr\">Se confirmaron 58 nuevos casos de 1 315 pruebas realizadas, para un acumulado de 515 casos en <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Cuba?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Cuba<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>454 con evoluci\u00f3n cl\u00ednica estable<br \/>8 pacientes en estado cr\u00edtico<br \/>8 pacientes en estado grave<br \/>15 fallecidos<br \/>28 altas<br \/>2 evacuados<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/dB4Ko7WDsB\">https:\/\/t.co\/dB4Ko7WDsB<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/vSlIT95bO7\">pic.twitter.com\/vSlIT95bO7<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Ministerio de Salud P\u00fablica de Cuba (@MINSAPCuba) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MINSAPCuba\/status\/1248273192738795524?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 9, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The three people who died were the following:<\/p>\n<p>A 49-year-old man from Taguasco, Sancti Sp\u00edritus province, with a history of high blood pressure. He had arrived in the country from the Dominican Republic and was admitted to the Manuel Piti Fajardo Hospital, in Villa Clara. He had \u201cpneumonic lesion, severe respiratory distress, respiratory, renal and myocardial dysfunction, hypotension and a distended abdomen compatible with paralytic ileus, mechanical ventilation and hemodynamically unstable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The case of the 80-year-old woman from Havana residing in the municipality of Diez de Octubre was as follows: she was the contact of a case from Mexico and had been admitted to the Salvador Allende Hospital for an acute respiratory condition diagnosed with pneumonia, \u201cwith acute respiratory failure and inflammatory lung disease. She developed a torpid evolution that led to her death.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The third victim is from Banes. She had a history of diabetes mellitus, ischemic heart disease, and was bedridden with a hip fracture. She was admitted to the Carlos Font Hospital, in Banes, due to \u201cacute lymphangitis and respiratory symptoms, being studied for acute respiratory failure, and being positive for COVID-19. She developed a marked respiratory distress that led to her death.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, of all the confirmed cases, 56 are Cuban and two are foreigners (Italian and Panamanian).<\/p>\n<p>Among the Cubans, seven have a source of infection abroad: the United States (4), Haiti (2) and Spain (1); 35 were contacts of confirmed cases; nine, of travelers coming from abroad. The source of infection of five is being investigated.<\/p>\n<p>The residence by provinces and municipalities of the confirmed cases is:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Artemisa: 3 (San Antonio de los Ba\u00f1os, Bah\u00eda Honda and G\u00fcira de Melena, 1 each)<\/li>\n<li>Havana: 32 (7 from Playa municipality, 4 from Habana del Este, 4 from Centro Habana, 3 from San Miguel del Padr\u00f3n, 3 from Diez de Octubre; La Lisa, Cotorro and Boyeros 2 each; Cerro, Plaza de la Revolution, Arroyo Naranjo, Marianao and Regla 1 each).<\/li>\n<li>Matanzas: 4 (2 from Matanzas municipality and two from C\u00e1rdenas).<\/li>\n<li>Villa Clara: 3 (2 from Camajuan\u00ed municipality and one from Cifuentes).<\/li>\n<li>Sancti Sp\u00edritus: 1 (from Cabaigu\u00e1n municipality).<\/li>\n<li>Ciego de \u00c1vila: 6 (3 from Majagua municipality, 2 from Mor\u00f3n and one from Florencia).<\/li>\n<li>Holgu\u00edn: 7 (3 from Holgu\u00edn municipality; B\u00e1guanos, Gibara, Moa and Banes 1 each).<\/li>\n<li>Isla de la Juventud Special Municipality: 2.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>According to Dr. Francisco Dur\u00e1n, director of epidemiology of the MINSAP and in charge of updating the data registered by the ministry, all Cuban provinces have cases of contagion, although the greatest number is being registered in Havana, Villa Clara, Ciego de \u00c1vila and Holgu\u00edn.<\/p>\n<p>Of the 515 patients infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus, 454 have a stable clinical evolution. 15 deaths are reported, two evacuees and 28 discharges, one more than yesterday. Eight patients are in critical condition and eight in serious condition.<\/p>\n<p>At yesterday\u2019s close, 1,860 patients were hospitalized for clinical-epidemiological surveillance.
