Forty-two days after the first case of COVID-19 in Cuba was detected, the authorities of the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) report 52 new infections and regret the death of 2 people yesterday.<\/p>\n

After this morning\u2019s update<\/a>, the number of patients on the island is 1,189, while the deaths from the SARS-CoV-2 virus reach 40.<\/p>\n

The deceased were two men, one 84 years old, from C\u00e1rdenas municipality, Matanzas, with a history of vascular dementia and respiratory sepsis; the other, 86 years old, came from the Home for the Elderly No. 3 in Santa Clara and, according to the MINSAP report, had a history of high blood pressure, heart failure and colon diverticular disease.<\/p>\n

Nine critically ill and seven serously ill patients are reported. In addition, 32 people were discharged yesterday to bring the total recovered to 341.<\/p>\n
