Celebrada el pasado 16 de abril, en la sesi\u00f3n fueron aprobados seis decretos-leyes en cumplimiento del Cronograma Legislativo <\/p>\n<p>M\u00e1s informaci\u00f3n: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/zXcrf8yANt\">https:\/\/t.co\/zXcrf8yANt<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/uLGe35KKOq\">pic.twitter.com\/uLGe35KKOq<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Asamblea Nacional Cuba (@AsambleaCuba) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AsambleaCuba\/status\/1253025172694732801?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 22, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The session, in which President Miguel D\u00edaz-Canel and Prime Minister Manuel Marrero participated, gave the green light to Decree-Law No. 5, \u201cwhich establishes the special social security regime for the protection of associated persons in the Basic Units of Cooperative Production (UBPC)\u201d and to No. 6, \u201crelating to the organization and operation of the Government Information System,\u201d according to the brief explanation of the parliamentary entity.<\/p>\n<p>Also No. 7, \u201cwhich establishes the Science, Technology and Innovation System, its fundamental components, principles, functions and organization,\u201d and No. 8, \u201cregarding the organization and operation of the Standardization, Metrology, Quality and Accreditation systems.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Finally, also approved were Decree-Law No. 9, \u201con Food Safety, which establishes the principles for a healthy diet for citizens\u201d and No. 10, \u201cwhich provides the regulations for the creation of National Regulatory Authorities, responsible for ensuring compliance with current legislation in their area of \u200b\u200bcompetence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The approval of these legislative instruments comes at a time when the Cuban government is prioritizing the fight against the coronavirus pandemic as part of its work agenda and carries out a group of measures to contain the transmission of COVID-19.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"VulG2kkugH\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/opinion\/legislative-schedule-in-cuba-a-step-forward-and-some-doubts\/\">Legislative schedule in Cuba: a step forward and some doubts<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;Legislative schedule in Cuba: a step forward and some doubts&#8221; &#8212; OnCubaNews English\" src=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/opinion\/legislative-schedule-in-cuba-a-step-forward-and-some-doubts\/embed\/#?secret=VN7s7WIoyC#?secret=VulG2kkugH\" data-secret=\"VulG2kkugH\" width=\"500\" height=\"282\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Previously, State Council of State had approved other decree-laws\u2015including one on the country\u2019s National Document Management and Archives System, and another on the creation of a national commission to address the issue of genetically modified organisms in Cuban agriculture\u2015the first of the 15 planned for the current year, according to the schedule approved on December 21, 2019, which follows the guidelines of the island\u2019s new Constitution.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Magna Carta, the decree-laws approved by the Council of State\u2015which is the collegiate body that represents the National Assembly between its sessions\u2015must be ratified by the Assembly itself at its next session.<\/p>\n<p>According to the legislative schedule, in 2020 the Cuban Parliament must submit to analysis and presumably approve 14 laws, including those of the People\u2019s Courts and the Criminal Procedure, as well as Defense and National Security, Housing, and Public Health.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, it must endorse 15 decree-laws, whose approval falls on the 21 members of the Council of State, led by Esteban Lazo, also president of the National Assembly.
