{"id":218900,"date":"2020-05-10T17:47:05","date_gmt":"2020-05-10T21:47:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/?p=218900"},"modified":"2020-05-10T17:47:05","modified_gmt":"2020-05-10T21:47:05","slug":"cuba-reports-12-new-cases-and-three-deaths-from-covid-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/cuba\/cuba-reports-12-new-cases-and-three-deaths-from-covid-19\/","title":{"rendered":"Cuba reports 12 new cases and three deaths from COVID-19"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Cuba registered 12 new positive cases with the SARS-CoV-2 <a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/tag\/coronavirus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">coronavirus<\/a> and three deaths from COVID-19 at the close of Saturday, Dr. Francisco Dur\u00e1n, national director of epidemiology of the Cuban Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP), reported at a press conference.<\/p>\n<p>Almost two months after the first reports of people infected with the coronavirus on the island, 1,766 cases and 77 deaths from the disease have already been reported, according to official data.<\/p>\n<p>12 new cases of <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/COVID19?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">#COVID19<\/a> were confirmed, for a total of 1766 in <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Cuba?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">#Cuba<\/a>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#x25aa; 594 active positive cases<\/li>\n<li>&#x25aa; 488 with stable clinical evolution<\/li>\n<li>&#x25aa; 1 critically ill patient<\/li>\n<li>&#x25aa; 5 patients in serious condition<\/li>\n<li>&#x25aa; 77 deceased<\/li>\n<li>&#x25aa; 1,193 discharges<\/li>\n<li>&#x25aa; 2 evacuees <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Ew2SqIpxFi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/t.co\/Ew2SqIpxFi<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/rH26jLj9TJ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">twitter.com\/rH26jLj9TJ<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Source: Cuban Ministry of Public Health (@MINSAPCuba) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MINSAPCuba\/status\/1259479539316592641?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">May 10, 2020<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Until yesterday there were 1,894 suspicious patients hospitalized in Cuba; 494 others are active cases of COVID-19, one of them in critical condition and five in serious condition.<\/p>\n<p>A total of 4,081 people are in their homes under public healthcare epidemiological surveillance.<\/p>\n<p>Dur\u00e1n stated that 53 people were discharged on Saturday, and now the island has a total of 1,193 people recovered after being hospitalized for testing positive to the coronavirus.<\/p>\n<p>According to the expert in epidemiology, in three of the new patients with the virus the source of contagion is not known so far, so the number of those infected with no links to previous cases has risen to 92.<\/p>\n<p>Another significant figure is that of asymptomatic patients: a total of 848 after adding the 4 of those detected yesterday who had no respiratory symptoms.<\/p>\n<p>The residence by province and municipality of the 12 confirmed cases is:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Artemisa: 1 case (from Bauta municipality)<\/li>\n<li>Havana: 8 cases (2 from Playa municipality; San Miguel del Padr\u00f3n, Diez de Octubre, Cerro, Habana del Este, Cotorro and Plaza, 1 each)<\/li>\n<li>Villa Clara: 1 case (from Santa Clara municipality)<\/li>\n<li>Sancti Sp\u00edritus: 1 case (from the municipality of Sancti Sp\u00edritus)<\/li>\n<li>Ciego de \u00c1vila: 1 case (from Ciego de \u00c1vila municipality)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/especiales\/especial-sobre-la-covid-19\/?utm_source=home&amp;utm_medium=banner&amp;utm_campaign=Coronavirus&amp;utm_term=covid-19#datos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Here you can find the most current data<\/a> and how the coronavirus curve is evolving in Cuba.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cuba registered 12 new positive cases with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus and three deaths from COVID-19 at the close of Saturday, Dr. Francisco Dur\u00e1n, national director of epidemiology of the Cuban Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP), reported at a press conference.
