{"id":218969,"date":"2020-05-12T12:23:07","date_gmt":"2020-05-12T16:23:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/?p=218969"},"modified":"2020-05-12T12:31:06","modified_gmt":"2020-05-12T16:31:06","slug":"coronavirus-in-cuba-of-the-21-new-infections-19-in-havana","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/cuba\/coronavirus-in-cuba-of-the-21-new-infections-19-in-havana\/","title":{"rendered":"Coronavirus in Cuba: of the 21 new infections, 19 in Havana"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today the news regarding COVID-19 in Cuba begins this way: one death and 21 new infections, of which 19 occurred in Havana, a province that has been reporting the largest number of cases to reach the figure of 868 patients.<\/p>\n<p>The municipalities that show the highest concentration of cases are Centro Habana, Cotorro, Habana del Este and Cerro, with 361 infections, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tribuna.cu\/salud\/2020-05-12\/cuba-reporta-21-casos-positivos-a-la-covid-19-de-ellos-19-son-de-la-habana\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">according to the newspaper <em>Tribuna de La Habana<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>However, at midnight yesterday, the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) reported there were no deaths in the capital, which, nevertheless, remains the epicenter of the pandemic in Cuba. The new victim is a 58-year-old man, a resident of in Matanzas, whose medical evolution is described in the <a href=\"https:\/\/salud.msp.gob.cu\/?p=5192&amp;fbclid=IwAR2n-TujecKbYVAhCUlZGit1fk3fTQw-ZtGJ1KtAdeUrSr_roJNy27fQZZs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">medical report<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The 21 new infections are Cubans; 17 of them were asymptomatic. Their geographical location is as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Havana: 19 cases (9 from Playa municipality; 3 from Centro Habana municipality; Cotorro and Habana del Este, 2 each; San Miguel del Padr\u00f3n, La Lisa and Marianao, 1 each).<\/li>\n<li>Matanzas: 1 case (from Limonar municipality).<\/li>\n<li>Ciego de \u00c1vila: 1 case (from Ciego de \u00c1vila municipality).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>At the close of May 11, 1,148 people were hospitalized for clinical epidemiological surveillance and another 3,907 were under primary healthcare surveillance in their homes.<\/p>\n<p>The country has processed a total of 71,157 tests, of which 1,804 have been positive.
