Along with his musical career he has carried out social activism and the struggle for human rights, the source said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">His name was among the personalities who in the United States supported the cause for the freedom of the five Cuban anti-terrorists who served long and unjust sentences in prisons in this country.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During his long and prolific career, Belafonte recorded more than 40 albums and his best-known song\u2015which ranked him first on the list of hits in 1957\u2015is <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Day-O<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Banana Boat Song<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Friendship Medal has honored numerous activists, including: American actor Danny Glover, filmmakers Estela Bravo and Ernesto Bravo, and American social activists and editors of the English edition of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Latin American Review<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Bill Hackwell and
