They will join the island&#8217;s health professionals who support the fight against the <a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/tag\/coronavirus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">COVID-19<\/a> pandemic in that South American country.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A new team of 212 doctors from #Cuba will support our brothers, the people and government of #Venezuela, in the confrontation with # COVID19,&#8221; Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodr\u00edguez wrote on Twitter this Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The head of Cuban diplomacy added that the island&#8217;s health professionals who arrived in Caracas yesterday \u201cwill reinforce the work of the \u2018Barrio Adentro\u2019 mission. Solidarity and cooperation: bases of this joint effort\u201d.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"es\" dir=\"ltr\">Una nueva brigada de 212 m\u00e9dicos de <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Cuba?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Cuba<\/a> apoyar\u00e1 al hermano pueblo y gobierno de <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Venezuela?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Venezuela<\/a> en el enfrentamiento a la <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/COVID19?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#COVID19<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Nuestros profesionales de la salud reforzar\u00e1n la labor de la misi\u00f3n Barrio Adentro. <\/p>\n<p>Solidaridad y cooperaci\u00f3n: puntales en este esfuerzo conjunto. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/S1XjVWf32w\">pic.twitter.com\/S1XjVWf32w<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Bruno Rodr\u00edguez P (@BrunoRguezP) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BrunoRguezP\/status\/1295412422380052483?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 17, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>This new group of doctors is part of the international contingent &#8220;Henry Reeve&#8221; who has traveled abroad to combat the pandemic since March, and who is part of the 1,000 doctors expected to go to work in Venezuela this year to join the mission &#8220;Barrio Adentro\u201d, as reported by state media.<\/p>\n<p>A specialized technical delegation traveled to Venezuela last March, after the detection of the first positive cases of SARS-CoV-2, to guide the 20,000 Cuban collaborators who provide service in that country; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.acn.cu\/cuba\/68824-nueva-brigada-medica-cubana-apoyara-labor-sanitaria-en-venezuela\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">recalls<\/a> the <em>Cuban News Agency (ACN)<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><em>ACN<\/em> also points out that Cuban doctors in that nation have been working for five months to contain the pandemic, focused on health promotion, population screenings, positive cases\u2019 treatment for COVID-19, and in the medical care of convalescent patients from this illness.<\/p>\n<p>Venezuela has registered a total of 33,755 infected by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic, of which 22,700 have recovered and 281 people have died, according to official data.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, the South American nation diagnosed more than 1,000 cases per day, the highest numbers since the pandemic began.<\/p>\n<p>More than 3,000 doctors and nurses from the Cuban group &#8220;Henry Reeve&#8221; &#8211; \u200b\u200bspecialized in epidemics and disasters &#8211; have assisted COVID-19 patients in 39 countries in Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, Europe, and the Middle East.<\/p>\n<p>Venezuela is the main political and economic ally of Cuba, whose government supports Nicol\u00e1s Maduro.
