{"id":226629,"date":"2020-08-26T19:27:26","date_gmt":"2020-08-26T23:27:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/?p=226629"},"modified":"2020-08-26T19:27:26","modified_gmt":"2020-08-26T23:27:26","slug":"cuban-vaccine-against-coronavirus-without-adverse-effects-after-48-hours-of-first-trial-in-humans","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/cuba\/cuban-vaccine-against-coronavirus-without-adverse-effects-after-48-hours-of-first-trial-in-humans\/","title":{"rendered":"Cuban vaccine against coronavirus without adverse effects after 48 hours of first trial in humans"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Cuban vaccine candidate against the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, which <a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/cuba\/cuba-clinical-trials-of-covid-19-vaccine-candidate-begin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">began this Monday<\/a> its clinical trials in humans, shows no serious adverse effects after two days of vaccination of the first 20 volunteers.<\/p>\n<p>The Coordinating Center for the Clinical Trial of the vaccine known as Soberana 01 reported this Wednesday that \u201c48 hours after being vaccinated, the first 20 subjects\u2015whose ages range between 19 and 59 years\u2015are in perfect health.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In an informative note <a href=\"http:\/\/www.acn.cu\/salud\/69280-soberana-01-cero-evento-adverso-a-48-horas-de-vacunacion-con-el-candidato-anti-sars-cov-2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">cited<\/a> by the <em>Agencia Cubana de Noticias (ACN)<\/em> news agency, the coordinators of the test indicated that \u201cthe only adverse effect recorded was mild pain on the spot where the injection was given, which is a side effect, common to all vaccines.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>They added that \u201cthe first safety report will be delivered on Monday, August 31 to the authorities of the Center for State Control of Medicines, Equipment and Medical Devices (CECMED)\u201d and that \u201clater, the trial will begin with the rest of the expected subjects, belonging to the age group between 60-80 years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The trials of the vaccine, developed by scientists from the Finlay Institute, were authorized after its registration on August 13 in the CECMED registry, and are being carried out at the National Toxicology Center (CENATOX), an entity \u201cresponsible for ensuring the good clinical practices\u201d in the test, for which they have all the necessary conditions, according to this center\u2019s officials.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"pXUl6bbplW\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/cuba\/cuban-soberana-01-vaccine\/\">Cuban Soberana 01 vaccine<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;Cuban Soberana 01 vaccine&#8221; &#8212; OnCubaNews English\" src=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/cuba\/cuban-soberana-01-vaccine\/embed\/#?secret=c8RrFyxD6X#?secret=pXUl6bbplW\" data-secret=\"pXUl6bbplW\" width=\"500\" height=\"282\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>So far, \u201cthe schedule provided for in this clinical trial is being met, where safety, reactogenicity and immunogenicity are evaluated in healthy adults between 19 and 80 years of age,\u201d the organizers said.<\/p>\n<p>The second phase will begin on September 11 with the vaccination of the remaining volunteers until the planned 676 are reached. Participants in the trials will receive two doses of the vaccine 28 days apart and their response will be studied throughout two months.<\/p>\n<p>The Finlay Institute has set the date of completion of the study for January 11, 2021, the results of which would be available on February 1 to be published on the 15th of the same month.<\/p>\n<p>The Cuban vaccine already successfully passed the animal experimentation stage between May and August and is the first vaccine candidate from a Latin American country approved for clinical trials.
