Meanwhile, 71 new contagions were reported today, and with that figure the country has registered 5,004 positive cases since March, when the pandemic started.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The deceased in the last 24 hours: an 80-year-old woman from Havana and a 41-year-old man from Ciego de \u00c1vila. The details of both are presented in the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/salud.msp.gob.cu\/parte-de-cierre-del-dia-17-de-septiembre-a-las-12-de-la-noche\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">report issued today by the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The country\u2019s fatality rate is 2.21%.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"es\" dir=\"ltr\">Se confirmaron 71 nuevos casos de <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/COVID19?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#COVID19<\/a>, para un acumulado de 5 004 en <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Cuba?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Cuba<\/a><\/p>\n<p>642 positivos activos<br \/>623 con evoluci\u00f3n cl\u00ednica estable<br \/>5 pacientes en estado cr\u00edtico<br \/>14 pacientes en estado grave<br \/>111 fallecidos <br \/>4 249 altas m\u00e9dicas<br \/>2 evacuados<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Kx5aSnUKQt\">https:\/\/t.co\/Kx5aSnUKQt<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/dEcpnv0MKn\">pic.twitter.com\/dEcpnv0MKn<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Ministerio de Salud P\u00fablica de Cuba (@MINSAPCuba) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MINSAPCuba\/status\/1306964487212355584?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 18, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThese are blows that impress us, but we have to face them and keep looking for new ways to save lives,\u201d said Dr. Francisco Dur\u00e1n, after giving his condolences to the families of the new victims.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meanwhile, the new contagions correspond to Cubans: 63 were contacts of confirmed cases, in three individuals the source of infection is not specified and five acquired the virus abroad.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">36 men, 35 women and, of the total, 45 were asymptomatic at the time of diagnosis.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By regions, today\u2019s cases are from Havana (34), Ciego de \u00c1vila (20), Matanzas (7), Sancti Sp\u00edritus (6), Pinar del R\u00edo (1), Mayabeque (1), Camag\u00fcey (1) and Granma (1)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By age group, the new infections are classified as follows: six under 20 years of age; 29 between 20 and 39; 29 between 40 and 59, and seven over 60.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Until midnight September 17, 1,830 people were hospitalized for surveillance, and 19 remained in intensive care: five in critical condition and 14 seriously ill.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">19 patients were discharged in a day when 8,405 samples were studied, with which the country has processed a total of 524,374 tests in search of the new coronavirus.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Help us keep OnCuba alive The SARS-CoV-2 virus has taken two new deaths, with which the number of deaths rises to 111 in Cuba.
