The authorities of the <\/span>Holgu\u00edn<\/span><\/a> municipalities of Antilla and Banes decreed hygienic and sanitary measures to contain the spread of <\/span>COVID-19<\/span><\/a>, which caused a death in the first of those demarcations, reported the <\/span>Agencia Cubana de Noticias<\/span><\/a><\/em> news agency.<\/span><\/p>\n

The victim lived in Antilla, but worked in Banes, which is why outbreak events have been opened in both urban areas, where health workers carry out daily screenings and intense epidemiological surveillance.<\/span><\/p>\n

Local governments established the mandatory use of facemasks, and recommended maintaining physical distance between people in places of public concentration, such as means of transportation and lines.<\/span><\/p>\n

The director of Health in Holgu\u00edn, Katia Ochoa, explained this Monday that in the two affected municipalities \u201cpopulation studies are being expedited in order to detect in the shortest possible time the greatest number of contacts with the deceased patient, be they from the areas where he resided, where he worked and from the medical centers where he was hospitalized.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

So far, 102 contacts linked to this case have been detected and isolated, which over the weekend set off the alarms of authorities and residents of that province.<\/span><\/p>\n

The municipal Defense Councils insisted on accelerating the disinfection of public spaces such as streets, workplaces and means of transportation through the use of hypochlorite.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the Cuban Ministry of Public Health report from Monday, a case was reported from the city of Holgu\u00edn, with which the provincial incidence rate has risen slightly; now it is 0.39 COVID-19 patients per 100,000 inhabitants.<\/span><\/p>\n
