(GGA) agreed to pay close to six million dollars for violating the Cuban Assets Control Regulation (CACR) of the U.S. Department of the Treasury, <\/span><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.prensa-latina.cu\/index.php?o=rn&amp;id=400527&amp;SEO=ee.uu.-multa-a-compania-de-viajes-por-violar-bloqueo-contra-cuba\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Prensa Latina<\/span><\/a><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> news agency reported this Thursday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/home.treasury.gov\/policy-issues\/financial-sanctions\/recent-actions\/20201001_33\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">press release<\/span><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">from the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), the CGA company referred payments related to Cuba to its Canadian affiliate \u201cthereby avoiding processing reimbursement payments directly to Cuban parties and to travelers while they were located in Cuba,\u201d the source said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">GGA, based in New York, agreed to disburse 5,864,860 dollars due to its alleged civil liability for 2,593 violations of the Cuban Assets Control Regulations, which forms part of the policies of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/tag\/embargo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">U.S. embargo<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on Cuba.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">OFAC determined that the apparent violations constitute an \u201cegregious case.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"Hl2kzRARS4\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/cuba-ee-uu\/que-es-y-que-hace-la-ofac\/\">\u00bfQu\u00e9 es y qu\u00e9 hace la OFAC?<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"\u00ab\u00bfQu\u00e9 es y qu\u00e9 hace la OFAC?\u00bb \u2014 OnCubaNews\" src=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/cuba-ee-uu\/que-es-y-que-hace-la-ofac\/embed\/#?secret=QkC70DeP5e#?secret=Hl2kzRARS4\" data-secret=\"Hl2kzRARS4\" width=\"500\" height=\"282\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to <em>Prensa Latina<\/em>, the company joins other international institutions fined by the Trump administration during the last year such as the British bank Standard Chartered, Expedia Group, General Electric, Allianz Global Risks U.S. Insurance Company and the Swiss Chubb Limited.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Last May, the U.S. government also fined <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biomin.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Biomin America<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a Kansas-based company specialized in animal nutrition, which between July 2012 and September 2017 carried out thirty transactions of agricultural products to Cuba through its subsidiaries abroad, for <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.treasury.gov\/resource-center\/sanctions\/CivPen\/Documents\/20200506_biomin.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a total of 44 violations<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of OFAC regulations.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"rTJpbm324g\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/cuba-ee-uu\/washington-multa-empresa-agricola-por-vender-alimentos-a-cuba-sin-informar-al-gobierno\/\">Washington multa a empresa agr\u00edcola por vender alimentos a Cuba sin informar al gobierno<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute;
