{"id":229071,"date":"2020-10-16T11:16:23","date_gmt":"2020-10-16T15:16:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/?p=229071"},"modified":"2020-10-16T11:16:23","modified_gmt":"2020-10-16T15:16:23","slug":"another-death-in-cuba-from-coronavirus-and-new-contagions-rise-to-56","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/cuba\/another-death-in-cuba-from-coronavirus-and-new-contagions-rise-to-56\/","title":{"rendered":"Another death in Cuba from coronavirus and new contagions rise to 56"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/contribute\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em><strong>Help us keep OnCuba alive<\/strong><\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One deceased and 56 new contagions from <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/tag\/coronavirus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SARS-CoV-2<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is the balance this virus leaves in Cuba today, according to the explanation offered by Dr. Francisco Dur\u00e1n, back on national television to give an update on the epidemiological situation of the island due to the new coronavirus.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Victim number 124 is a 74-year-old woman, resident in the Havana municipality of Marianao, whose evolution is detailed in <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/salud.msp.gob.cu\/parte-de-cierre-del-dia-15-de-octubre-a-las-12-de-la-noche\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">today\u2019s report<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by the health authorities.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"es\" dir=\"ltr\">Se confirmaron 56 nuevos casos de <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/COVID19?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#COVID19<\/a>, para un acumulado de 6 mil 118 en <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Cuba?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Cuba<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>290 casos activos <br \/>285 con evoluci\u00f3n cl\u00ednica estable <br \/>2 pacientes en estado cr\u00edtico<br \/>3 pacientes en estado grave<br \/>124 fallecidos <br \/>5 mil 702 altas m\u00e9dicas <br \/>2 evacuados<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/79vgQcaOzY\">https:\/\/t.co\/79vgQcaOzY<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/vIPfj2lI2W\">pic.twitter.com\/vIPfj2lI2W<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Ministerio de Salud P\u00fablica de Cuba (@MINSAPCuba) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MINSAPCuba\/status\/1317103219168972800?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 16, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Regarding the new infections: all correspond to Cubans, 46 were indigenous cases and 10 were imported.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Of the total, 40 were related to confirmed cases, a group in which there has been a change in protocol, according to Dr. Dur\u00e1n, national director of epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP): \u201cContacts of confirmed and suspected cases are isolated at home.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In three individuals the source of infection is not specified.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The ten imported cases, although they do not reveal a local transmission, are registered in the provinces of Guant\u00e1namo (three cases), Camag\u00fcey (two), Granma (two), the special municipality of Isla de la Juventud (one), Holgu\u00edn (one) and Santiago de Cuba (one).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For their part, Havana, Sancti Sp\u00edritus, Pinar del R\u00edo and Ciego de \u00c1vila reported the autochthonous cases of the last day.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Taking into account the incidence rate, the provinces with the \u201cgreatest epidemiological complexity\u201d are Sancti Sp\u00edritus and Ciego de \u00c1vila, with rates of 35.84 and 20.82 per 100,000 inhabitants, respectively.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIn Havana there has been a significant reduction.
