Once again, they are lying!\u201d Fincimex posted on Twitter.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"qme\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Fincimex?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Fincimex<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Denuncia?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Denuncia<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/snq2IlVA37\">pic.twitter.com\/snq2IlVA37<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Corporaci\u00f3n CIMEX S.A (@cimex_cuba) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/cimex_cuba\/status\/1322155837759148033?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 30, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The statement explains that those who designed the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/tag\/sanciones\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">sanctions,<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> which come into effect on November 26, know very well that it would not be possible to organize alternative solutions in 30 days.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It points out that \u201cthe U.S. government\u2019s intentionality to interrupt remittances to Cuba is evident and of course, for this they need to lie to public opinion as usual.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Belonging to the GAESA military conglomerate, Fincimex is not willing to give up the remittance business on the island, despite the sanctions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the official note released on social media, the financial company has invested in equipment, premises, staff training and communications infrastructure for 20 years, to achieve a payment network capable of sustaining the high operational level of international remittance companies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to Fincimex, 70% of Western Union\u2019s network of payment points on the island is made up of companies included in the list of restricted entities by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the U.S. Department of the Treasury, \u201cso even without Fincimex\u2019s management as Western Union\u2019s representative in Cuba, they would be forced to close,\u201d the statement underlines.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cuba confirmed this week that the 407 Western Union offices will close due to the sanctions announced by the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/tag\/donald-trump-es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Donald Trump<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> administration, which prohibit the sending of remittances from the United States to the island through official channels.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The financial services firm denounced in a statement that remittances to Cuba \u201cwill be totally interrupted,\u201d when the ban on sending money through companies controlled by the Cuban Armed Forces enters into force on November 26.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"dfjNKbaeuB\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/cuba-usa\/western-union-to-close-407-offices-in-cuba\/\">Western Union to close 407 offices in Cuba<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;Western Union to close 407 offices in Cuba&#8221; &#8212; OnCubaNews English\" src=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/cuba-usa\/western-union-to-close-407-offices-in-cuba\/embed\/#?secret=0UlRyE07U2#?secret=dfjNKbaeuB\" data-secret=\"dfjNKbaeuB\" width=\"500\" height=\"282\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After the announcement, a spokeswoman of the U.S. company for the Americas stated that they were still working to find an alternative arrangement that would allow them to maintain the service in Cuba, and that for now they were continuing to offer their service to the Cuban community.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cOur goal is to continue to provide essential money transfer services to clients, many of whom depend on remittances from loved ones to meet their daily needs,\u201d said spokesperson Margaret Fogarty.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWestern Union is committed to complying with all government regulations and we are currently working to comply with the new rules and regulations in Cuba.
