{"id":232808,"date":"2021-01-08T12:12:44","date_gmt":"2021-01-08T17:12:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/?p=232808"},"modified":"2021-01-08T12:12:44","modified_gmt":"2021-01-08T17:12:44","slug":"another-covid-19-record-in-cuba-with-344-new-infections-reported-today","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/cuba\/another-covid-19-record-in-cuba-with-344-new-infections-reported-today\/","title":{"rendered":"Another COVID-19 record in Cuba with 344 new infections reported today"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/tag\/coronavirus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">coronavirus<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> infections reported in January by the Cuban Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) are \u201ckeeping tense\u201d the population and local governments, as explained by Dr. Francisco Dur\u00e1n during his appearance on Cuban television, from where he reported that just in the last 24 hours, 344 new cases had been registered.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This figure, the highest since March, conveys the same concern as that of confirmed cases, a statistic that also registers a peak since the disease was identified on the island, with 2,118 active patients registered this Thursday.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"es\" dir=\"ltr\">Se confirmaron 344 nuevos casos de <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/COVID19?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#COVID19<\/a>, para un acumulado de 13 823<br \/>2 118 casos activos <br \/>2 102 con evoluci\u00f3n cl\u00ednica estable <br \/>4 pacientes en estado cr\u00edtico<br \/>12 pacientes en estado grave<br \/>148 fallecidos <br \/>11 531 pacientes recuperados <br \/>2 evacuados<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/GAcOUEmlnm\">https:\/\/t.co\/GAcOUEmlnm<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/RV4rFtLhk4\">pic.twitter.com\/RV4rFtLhk4<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Ministerio de Salud P\u00fablica de Cuba (@MINSAPCuba) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MINSAPCuba\/status\/1347558937839742977?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 8, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Of the total number of infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus this day, 275 were autochthonous and 69 imported, and the territories that reported the highest number of cases were Havana (91), Santiago de Cuba (45), Guant\u00e1namo (36 ), Matanzas (34), Pinar del R\u00edo (26), Villa Clara (22) and Holgu\u00edn (17), although in general 15 provinces reported patients due to autochthonous transmission or due to imported cases.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 69 patients with a source of infection abroad came from the United States, Haiti, Mexico, Canada, Colombia and Russia. Regarding the place of origin of the patients, of the total infections, 334 correspond to Cubans and 10 to foreigners, with Russian, Canadian, Colombian, German, U.S. and Sri Lankan nationality.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/salud.msp.gob.cu\/parte-de-cierre-del-dia-7-de-enero-a-las-12-de-la-noche\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">today\u2019s MINSAP report<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, 12,092 tests were processed at the country\u2019s laboratories, and now 13,823 infections have been identified since the beginning of the pandemic. Meanwhile, 141 people were discharged and with them 11,531 patients have recovered from this disease.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In hospitals or healthcare centers, however, the total number of patients under surveillance also rose, now with 4,281 hospitalizations, compared to the number reported in intensive care, which dropped to 16: four in critical condition and 12 in serious condition.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In short, of the 344 infections this Thursday, 238 were contacts of confirmed cases, 69 had the source of infection abroad and in 37 individuals the source of infection is not specified. 67.4% of them were asymptomatic.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There were no deaths on the day, and the deaths due to the new coronavirus in Cuba still stand at 148 since the first patients with a disease that continues keeping everyone in check were reported on March 11.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The coronavirus infections reported in January by the Cuban Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) are \u201ckeeping tense\u201d the population and local governments, as explained by Dr. Francisco Dur\u00e1n during his appearance on Cuban television, from where he reported that just in the last 24 hours, 344 new cases had been registered.
