{"id":233252,"date":"2021-01-17T08:00:33","date_gmt":"2021-01-17T13:00:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/?p=233252"},"modified":"2021-01-18T08:11:04","modified_gmt":"2021-01-18T13:11:04","slug":"cuba-reports-highest-number-of-coronavirus-infections-since-the-start-of-pandemic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/cuba\/cuba-reports-highest-number-of-coronavirus-infections-since-the-start-of-pandemic\/","title":{"rendered":"Cuba reports highest number of coronavirus infections since the start of pandemic*"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cuba confirmed the highest number of coronavirus infections since the pandemic began on the island: 650 people with the disease.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With that number, 18,151 COVID-19 cases have already been confirmed since March 2020, when the first coronavirus patients became known.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dr. Francisco Dur\u00e1n Garc\u00eda, national director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP), lamented the death of four patients, which increases the death toll to 166.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To date, the health authorities have reported 18,151 people confirmed with the disease and more than one million samples analyzed to detect the coronavirus.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"jeg_video_container jeg_video_content\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Conferencia: Cuba frente a la Covid-19 (17 de enero de 2021)\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/g6Oocmoaj_A?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The provinces with the highest number of infections are Guant\u00e1namo and Havana, with 206 and 153, respectively. Forty-six patients are in intensive care, eleven in critical condition, including one child, and 35 in serious condition. One child is reported in critical condition and four in serious condition.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These figures mark the considerable increase in the pandemic in Cuba after months under control.
