{"id":234002,"date":"2021-02-02T11:26:47","date_gmt":"2021-02-02T16:26:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/?p=234002"},"modified":"2021-02-02T11:26:47","modified_gmt":"2021-02-02T16:26:47","slug":"new-covid-record-in-cuba-on-first-day-of-february","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/coronavirus\/new-covid-record-in-cuba-on-first-day-of-february\/","title":{"rendered":"New coronavirus record in Cuba with 1,044 cases on first day of February"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 1,044 new <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/coronavirus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SARS-CoV-2 virus<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> infections reported on the first day of February set a new record in Cuba during its battle against the pandemic, which began for its inhabitants last year on March 11.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Most of the cases were autochthonous (1,022), illustrating the main reason for the transmission today, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/salud.msp.gob.cu\/parte-de-cierre-del-dia-1-de-febrero-a-las-12-de-la-noche\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">according to the information provided by the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> through the usual press conference of its director of Epidemiology, Dr. Francisco Duran.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Of the new patients, 980 were contacts of confirmed cases, while the imported infections of the day rose slightly to 22. The three registered the highest number of cases yesterday, and except for Camag\u00fcey, which did not report COVID-19 patients despite having reported 36 positive cases the previous day, all provinces diagnosed positive cases.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The situation in some places has been assessed by Dr. Dur\u00e1n as \u201cvery worrying,\u201d as is the case with the Isla de la Juventud Special Municipality, whose total number of infections rose to 20 this Monday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dr. Francisco Dur\u00e1n underlined the day\u2019s 1,065 discharges, which establish a \u201cslightly positive balance,\u201d although he stressed that these people continue their recovery under \u201ca home admission until the PCR is repeated.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition, the new coronavirus caused two deaths this Monday, residents in Havana: an 84-year-old man and a 90-year-old woman. With them the death toll already stands at 218 fatalities and the island\u2019s lethality rate is 0.76%.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Until midnight on Monday, February 1, 12,017 patients were hospitalized, of them 5,445 were confirmed active cases.
