{"id":234443,"date":"2021-02-10T11:46:35","date_gmt":"2021-02-10T16:46:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/?p=234443"},"modified":"2021-02-10T11:46:35","modified_gmt":"2021-02-10T16:46:35","slug":"cuban-government-will-authorize-self-employed-veterinarians-for-pets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/cuba\/cuban-government-will-authorize-self-employed-veterinarians-for-pets\/","title":{"rendered":"Cuban government will authorize self-employed veterinarians for pets"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Planning Alejandro Gil Fern\u00e1ndez said this Tuesday that of the 127 activities allowed for self-employment, now more than 2,000 can be carried out.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Speaking at the Mesa Redonda TV program, he said that it was not just a change in the list of activities, but something much broader and that includes other measures such as the improvement of the tax system, making flexible the paperwork and the administrative mechanisms to issue authorizations for self-employment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He said that the blockade had had a severe impact on self-employment considering the suppression of cruises, tourism and the effects on travel, all measures that had an impact on private restaurants (paladares) and on the leasing of rooms and homes, among other economic activities. He also alluded to the weight of the pandemic, which inevitably led to the closure of businesses and the reduction of service delivery hours.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Due to these circumstances, he stressed, around 250,000 self-employed workers had to temporarily suspend their licenses.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the other hand, he said that article 5 of Decree 20\/20 prohibits practicing veterinary medicine as a self-employed activity. \u201cIn the new design of activities, this prohibition to practice veterinary medicine is maintained, however, the exception is incorporated for those who care for pets.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"sk5ejJy4nj\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/cuba\/veterinarios-cubanos-piden-eliminar-prohibicion-de-su-ejercicio-por-cuenta-propia\/\">Veterinarios cubanos piden eliminar prohibici\u00f3n de su ejercicio por cuenta propia<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"\u00abVeterinarios cubanos piden eliminar prohibici\u00f3n de su ejercicio por cuenta propia\u00bb \u2014 OnCubaNews\" src=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/cuba\/veterinarios-cubanos-piden-eliminar-prohibicion-de-su-ejercicio-por-cuenta-propia\/embed\/#?secret=EywS1BvOCg#?secret=sk5ejJy4nj\" data-secret=\"sk5ejJy4nj\" width=\"500\" height=\"282\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThat specific part of self-employment in veterinary medicine for the care of pets,\u201d he reiterated, \u201cis allowed in the new policy.
