The Council of State of the Republic of Cuba approved this Tuesday three new decree-laws \u201cin compliance with its legislative work,\u201d according to the island\u2019s <\/span>National Assembly<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The approval took place during a session of that collegiate body, which represents the Assembly between its sessions, held in Havana\u2019s Capitol and in which Cuban President Miguel D\u00edaz-Canel and Prime Minister Manuel Marrero participated via videoconference.<\/span><\/p>\n

The new decree-laws approved were one on the Technical Advisory Council, another on postal services and a third that recognizes educational centers of the armed forces as universities. However, this time the agenda did not include the expected decree-law on <\/span>animal welfare<\/span><\/a>, officially scheduled for the current month and of which the Cuban parliament\u2019s <\/span>note<\/span><\/a> does not mention.<\/span><\/p>\n

As explained by the National Assembly, the Decree-Law \u201cOn the Technical Advisory Council\u201d establishes \u201cthe institution in the organs of the State, agencies of the Central State Administration, higher of Business Management organizations, national entities, local organs of People\u2019s Power, and in all pertinent institutions\u201d a council of this nature\u201d with the objective of studying and issuing recommendations related to their activities, which guarantee making decisions based on the application of science, technology and innovation.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Decree-Law \u201cOn Postal Services\u201d establishes \u201cthe regime in which these services are provided and the rules for the different postal operators,\u201d based on the premise that \u201cupdating the legislation on this important activity ensures the stability in its services and strengthens the exercise of the regulatory function of the State.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Finally, the Decree-Law \u201cAmendment of Law No. 1307 of July 29, 1976\u201d recognizes with the category of \u201cUniversities\u201d the Jos\u00e9 Mart\u00ed Military Technical Institute, the General Antonio Maceo Interarms School of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, the General Jos\u00e9 Maceo Interarms School and the Comandante Arides Est\u00e9vez S\u00e1nchez Higher Military School.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Council of State session also addressed the current monetary reorganization through an informative intervention by Marino Murillo Jorge, head of the Commission for the Implementation and Development of the Economic and Social Policy Guidelines, while President of the National Assembly Esteban Lazo \u201creported on the work of the permanent commissions of that body and of the deputies during the period,\u201d the note states.<\/span><\/p>\n
