{"id":237719,"date":"2021-04-19T13:37:26","date_gmt":"2021-04-19T17:37:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/?p=237719"},"modified":"2021-04-19T13:37:26","modified_gmt":"2021-04-19T17:37:26","slug":"cuba-kicks-off-week-with-1060-coronavirus-infections","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/coronavirus\/cuba-kicks-off-week-with-1060-coronavirus-infections\/","title":{"rendered":"Cuba kicks off week with 1,060 coronavirus infections"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cuba reported an increase in infections caused by the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/coronavirus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SARS-CoV-2 virus<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> this Sunday, when 1,060 cases were diagnosed, the highest figure in the last 15 days, as Dr. Francisco Dur\u00e1n stressed today during the presentation of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/salud.msp.gob.cu\/parte-de-cierre-del-dia-18-de-abril-a-las-12-de-la-noche-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">daily report<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> issued by the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The number of deaths decreased compared to what had been happening in previous days, although six deaths were reported on Sunday: three women and three men, aged between 48 and 91 years and residents in the municipalities of Bayamo (Granma); San Miguel del Padr\u00f3n, Plaza de la Revoluci\u00f3n (Havana); C\u00e1rdenas, Jovellanos (Matanzas), and Santiago de Cuba.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With them, the death toll from the coronavirus pandemic stands at 531 on the island. Two foreigners were diagnosed in Cuba with the virus this Sunday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By territories, after processing a total of 21,568 samples, the highest figures correspond to Havana (568), Matanzas (117), Santiago de Cuba (82), Granma (76) and Holgu\u00edn (63).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the other hand, Ciego de \u00c1vila (five), Camag\u00fcey (four), Guant\u00e1namo (two) and Mayabeque (one) accounted for the lowest figures. The special municipality Isla de la Juventud did not report infections.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Twelve municipalities\u2014eight from Havana, three from Matanzas and one from Sancti Sp\u00edritus\u2014represent 38.8% of the transmission in the last two weeks. The most complicated situation is in Old Havana, Regla and Cabaigu\u00e1n.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Regarding the incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants, in the same period, Havana, Matanzas, Sancti Sp\u00edritus and Granma are the provinces with the highest incidence rates.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">44.4% of today\u2019s cases were asymptomatic and, by age group, the situation behaved as follows: 166 children under 20 years of age; 315 between 20 and 39; 388 between 40 and 59, and 191 over 60.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Until midnight, 24,853 people were hospitalized, there were 4,911 active cases and 62 patients were in intensive care: 30 in critical condition and 32 in serious condition.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There 1,038 were discharges on the day, and with which 89,073 patients have already recovered from this disease in
