Havana<\/span><\/a> authorities hope that next Saturday the city will be ready for the mass COVID-19 vaccination, although the date on which this process should begin has not been announced.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Cuban capital\u2019s doctor\u2019s offices will be the medical sites where the vaccination will be carried out, as announced this Monday in the daily meeting of the Provincial Defense Council, the newspaper <\/span>Tribuna de La Habana<\/span><\/i> reported<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

This process, which according to previous information will be carried out <\/span>as a population intervention<\/span><\/a>, will be carried out with the Abdala COVID-19 vaccine candidates, from the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB); and Soberana 02, from the Finlay Vaccine Institute.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the press report, the Havana authorities \u201cagreed to establish a daily check-up of the preparatory work during the week,\u201d in order to \u201cbe in a position to start vaccinating the capital\u2019s citizens when the country\u2019s leadership decides.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Medical assistance will be reinforced with sixth year medical interns and students, \u201cso that the rest of the normal activities in the doctor\u2019s offices can continue,\u201d said <\/span>Tribuna de La Habana<\/span><\/i>, which adds that for the beginning of the process \u201cthe premises must be defined, with a waiting place, logistics, transportation and above all, reviewing the availability of human resources capable of responding to this mission.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Once the start date has been defined, \u201cthe vaccination will begin with the aim of covering 1,700,000 people, with an average of 85 subjects per doctor\u2019s office each day,\u201d said Prensa Latina (PL) news agency.<\/span><\/p>\n
