{"id":238445,"date":"2021-05-04T11:41:57","date_gmt":"2021-05-04T15:41:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/?p=238445"},"modified":"2021-05-04T11:41:57","modified_gmt":"2021-05-04T15:41:57","slug":"coronavirus-in-cuba-patients-in-intensive-care-reach-115-in-one-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/coronavirus\/coronavirus-in-cuba-patients-in-intensive-care-reach-115-in-one-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Coronavirus in Cuba: patients in intensive care reach 115 in one day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The number of patients in ICUs in Cuba has once again set a negative record due to what Dr. Francisco Dur\u00e1n continues to describe as \u201chigh virulence of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/coronavirus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SARS-CoV-2<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> virus.\u201d For this reason, until midnight yesterday, 115 people were reported in serious or critical condition. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/salud.msp.gob.cu\/parte-de-cierre-del-dia-3-de-mayo-a-las-12-de-la-noche-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The report<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> highlights the presence of two children under the age of two months.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe figure is high and confirms the need for protecting ourselves more due to the high virulence of the virus, which tends to evolve to a serious condition,\u201d said the national director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP), who once again emphasized those persons included in risk groups.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Because today\u2019s is the ICUs\u2019 highest record on the island, in which the infections reported by the MINSAP again exceeded one thousand (1,019) and there were 11 deaths as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"es\" dir=\"ltr\">Se confirmaron 1 019 nuevos casos de <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/COVID19?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#COVID19<\/a>, para un acumulado de 110 644<\/p>\n<p>5 576 casos activos <br \/>5 461 evoluci\u00f3n cl\u00ednica estable <br \/>51 pacientes en estado cr\u00edtico<br \/>64 pacientes en estado grave<br \/>686 fallecidos <br \/>104 326 pacientes recuperados <br \/>2 evacuados<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Zd5iHI8WBo\">https:\/\/t.co\/Zd5iHI8WBo<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/29tDdLrknr\">pic.twitter.com\/29tDdLrknr<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Ministerio de Salud P\u00fablica de Cuba (@MINSAPCuba) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MINSAPCuba\/status\/1389587656133287939?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 4, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The fatalities from COVID-19 are to six men and five women, aged between 46 and 75 years and residing in municipalities of the provinces of Havana (nine), Sancti Sp\u00edritus and Camag\u00fcey.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The infections, on the other hand, are mainly due to autochthonous transmission (992), 966 were contacts of confirmed cases and there were 27 imported cases, mostly Cuban travelers from Russia, with the exception of one who arrived from the United States.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition, four foreigners were diagnosed: a Russian, a Ukrainian, a Chadian, and a Congolese. All positive because of autochthonous transmission.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By age groups, 165 had not reached the age of 20; and, of them, 148 are of pediatric age; 291 are aged between 20 and 39 years, 351 between 40 and 59, and 212 were over 60 years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Havana, which leads the provinces with the highest incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants in the last two weeks, accounted for the highest number of cases in 24 hours: 658, with three imported. It is followed by: Holgu\u00edn (64, one imported), Matanzas (60, one imported) and Mayabeque (59, one imported).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the contrary, Ciego de \u00c1vila (six), Villa Clara (seven) and Las Tunas (seven) identified the least amount of infections. The Isla de la Juventud special municipality reported no cases after processing 21,212 samples throughout the country.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Twelve western municipalities concentrate 48.7% of the transmission in the last fifteen days, 11 of them from Havana and one from Matanzas. The highest indicators belong to Old Havana and Cerro, with 664 and 638 per 100,000 inhabitants, respectively.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During the day, there were 1,070 discharges, with which 104,326 people have already recovered from the disease in Cuba, which is going through a very complicated situation that does not seem to improve.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In three days in May, 3,022 infections and 32 deaths have already been registered, which raises the lethality of the period to 1.06%, although the same indicator in almost fourteen months is 0.62%, after the 686 deaths reported by the MINSAP.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Of those diagnosed on the day, 43.2% had no
