Also the number of confirmed active cases reached the figure of 6,032, the highest \u201cat least in the last three months,\u201d assured Dr. Francisco Dur\u00e1n.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Of that number of patients in ICUs, 40 were in critical condition and 91 in serious condition. In addition, two were infants and one was under 12 years of age. But, in a general, there were 22,795 hospitalized patients until midnight, when the molecular biology laboratories had processed 18,417 samples and reported 1,071 new infections.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Another sad news is that the number of deaths on the day rose to 14, with whom May registers a total of 101 deaths due to COVID-19, a disease that accounts for 600 casualties this year. In addition, six Congolese and two Angolans infected by autochthonous transmission were reported.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The provinces of Havana (559 cases), Holgu\u00edn (73), Santiago de Cuba (67) and Mayabeque (58) registered the highest number of positive cases, unlike Ciego de \u00c1vila (four), the only territory to identify less than 10. The Isla de la Juventud special municipality did not report infections and already has 21 days free of cases, according to the MINSAP.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By age group, 187 were under 20 years of age, among which 172 had not reached 18.
