
{"id":238812,"date":"2021-05-12T13:42:35","date_gmt":"2021-05-12T17:42:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/?p=238812"},"modified":"2021-05-12T13:42:35","modified_gmt":"2021-05-12T17:42:35","slug":"cuba-council-of-ministers-updates-regulations-on-private-work-in-varadero","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/cuba\/cuba-council-of-ministers-updates-regulations-on-private-work-in-varadero\/","title":{"rendered":"Cuba: Council of Ministers updates regulations on private work in Varadero"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An agreement of the Council of Ministers of Cuba, recently published in the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gaceta Oficial<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, updated the regulations on the private sector in the tourist hub of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/tag\/varadero\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Varadero<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and allows the issuance of new authorizations for <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/tag\/self-employment-in-cuba\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">self-employment<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, but only for a limited group of activities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The new provision, which appears in the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gacetaoficial.gob.cu\/sites\/default\/files\/goc-2021-ex42.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gaceta Oficial Extraordinaria<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> No. 42<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, recalls that in the famous Cuban beach resort only \u201cessential non-state forms of management\u201d operate, which are \u201ccompatible with <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/tag\/tourism-in-cuba\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">tourism<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d or \u201crespond to the needs of the local population,\u201d <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cubadebate.cu\/noticias\/2021\/05\/11\/anuncian-nuevas-regulaciones-para-el-trabajo-no-estatal-en-el-polo-turistico-de-varadero\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cubadebate<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> reported.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition, it clarifies that from now on, new authorizations may be issued to exercise private work, but only in activities related to education and care children, care for the sick, people with disabilities and the elderly, as well as for the care of public toilets, lockers and parks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The agreement also approves the granting of licenses for domestic service workers and the leasing of homes, rooms and spaces \u201cwith exceptional authorization\u201d and allows the hiring of workers by the artistic creators of the Cuban Fund for Cultural Assets and the self-employed who work in the squares.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bookkeeping and student reviews are also on the short list of activities in which authorizations for non-state work will be issued in Varadero, declared as an area of \u200b\u200bhigh interest for tourism in Cuba and considered one of the best beaches in the world by TripAdvisor users.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"PfEaeI8OYX\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/cuba\/economy\/tourism-in-cuba\/cayo-santamaria-and-varadero-among-best-25-beaches-worldwide-according-to-tripadvisor\/\">Cayo Santamar\u00eda and Varadero among best 25 beaches worldwide, according to TripAdvisor<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;Cayo Santamar\u00eda and Varadero among best 25 beaches worldwide, according to TripAdvisor&#8221; &#8212; OnCubaNews English\" src=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/cuba\/economy\/tourism-in-cuba\/cayo-santamaria-and-varadero-among-best-25-beaches-worldwide-according-to-tripadvisor\/embed\/#?secret=FehN5rmjMD#?secret=PfEaeI8OYX\" data-secret=\"PfEaeI8OYX\" width=\"500\" height=\"282\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The regulation, which will enter into force 60 days after its publication in the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gaceta Oficial<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, renders without effect a previous agreement of the Council of Ministers, issued at the end of 2016 and which \u201cgave way in 2017 to the approval of certain licenses in Varadero, where since August 2012 no new licenses have been issued to carry out non-state work,\u201d said Cubadebate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The document \u201creiterates that forms of non-state management can only be exercised in authorized areas, and recalls the prohibition of using gardens, outdoor patios, side corridors, portals or other similar areas outside homes or other buildings,\u201d the post added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The new agreement is complemented by Resolution 36 of the Ministry of Culture, which contains the rules for the authorization of licenses for workers hired by artistic creators in the beach resort, located north of the western province of Matanzas. Said resolution prohibits the simultaneous presence of the artistic creator and the hired worker in the sales area \u201cto avoid the increase of people working at the same time in the tourist
