Active cases also rose to 6,934.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Eight deaths were also reported, corresponding to four men and the same number of women, aged between 61 and 90 years, and residing in Havana, Pinar del R\u00edo, Camag\u00fcey and Matanzas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The death toll on the island from <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/tag\/coronavirus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">COVID-19<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> already stands at 804, and the fatality rate is now 0.64%.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"es\" dir=\"ltr\">Se confirmaron 1 233 nuevos casos de <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/COVID19?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#COVID19<\/a>, para un acumulado de 124 454.<br \/>6 934 casos activos<br \/>6 814 evoluci\u00f3n cl\u00ednica estable <br \/>42 pacientes en estado cr\u00edtico<br \/>78 pacientes en estado grave<br \/>804 fallecidos <br \/>116 660 pacientes recuperados <br \/>2 evacuados<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/cIrlLbWmqX\">https:\/\/t.co\/cIrlLbWmqX<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/jUQj5TMQZ8\">pic.twitter.com\/jUQj5TMQZ8<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Ministerio de Salud P\u00fablica de Cuba (@MINSAPCuba) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MINSAPCuba\/status\/1393932785941893122?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 16, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Only in the month of May, during its first two weeks, 150 deaths and 16,832 infections were reported, averaging 1,122 cases and 10 deaths per day.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Of the 1,233 infections on Saturday, 1,163 are due to autochthonous transmission and 70 people were infected abroad.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Most of the imported cases were Cuban travelers from Russia (64), although travelers from Colombia (four), Spain (one) and the Bahamas (one) were also reported. In addition, six foreigners tested positive for the virus: two Colombians, a Russian, a Spaniard, a Venezuelan and a Canadian.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By age group yesterday: 174 were under 20 years old; 412, between 20 and 39; 462 between 40 and 59; and 185 people were over 60 years old.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Havana accounted for the highest number (630) of detected cases, followed by six territories with more than 50 infections: Santiago de Cuba, Cienfuegos, Artemisa, Camag\u00fcey, Pinar del R\u00edo and Matanzas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the contrary, the special municipality of Isla de la Juventud has not reported cases for 26 days.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The country\u2019s incidence rate has risen to 142 per 100,000 inhabitants in the last two weeks, a period in which 11 municipalities from the capital and one from Pinar del R\u00edo (Sandino) represented 36.5% of the transmission.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As of midnight, 27,657 people were hospitalized and 16,674 were under surveillance. Meanwhile, the number of admissions to ICUs discreetly decreased to 120: 42 in critical condition and 78 in serious condition.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">44.9% of those diagnosed were asymptomatic, in a day in which 23,021 PCR samples were processed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The MINSAP reported 1,155 discharges, with which 116,660 patients
