In that period, COVID-19 caused the death of 195 people, with which the death toll already stands at 849 and to date the fatality rate remains at 0.65%.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the last 24 hours, the MINSAP reported nine deaths, six men and three women between the ages of 57 and 84 and residing in the provinces of Havana, Mayabeque, Matanzas and Ciego de \u00c1vila.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"es\" dir=\"ltr\">Se confirmaron 1 197 nuevos casos de <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/COVID19?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#COVID19<\/a>, para un acumulado de 130 543.<\/p>\n<p>6 874 casos activos<br \/>6 742 evoluci\u00f3n cl\u00ednica estable <br \/>50 pacientes en estado cr\u00edtico<br \/>82 pacientes en estado grave<br \/>849 fallecidos <br \/>122 764  pacientes recuperados <br \/>2 evacuados<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/W77yCeFAK1\">https:\/\/t.co\/W77yCeFAK1<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/SF343qfThF\">pic.twitter.com\/SF343qfThF<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Ministerio de Salud P\u00fablica de Cuba (@MINSAPCuba) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MINSAPCuba\/status\/1395746482586800129?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 21, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Most of the 1,197 infections are due to autochthonous transmission (1,129); 1,072 were contacts of confirmed cases and 68 acquired the virus abroad.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With the exception of two foreigners, of the nine reported this day, and of which seven owe the disease to autochthonous transmission, all are Cuban travelers from Russia (52), Spain (13), the United States (one), Canada (one) and France (one).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The incidence rate on the island during the last two weeks is 150.3 per 100,000 inhabitants and the Sandino municipality leads the group of twelve municipalities (11 are from the capital) that represent 47.1% of the transmission in said period.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By age group, those under 20 years old reported on the day made up a group of 150, of which 133 were pediatric. Active cases at these ages reached a spike of 1,115 again in the last 24 hours, as Dr. Francisco Dur\u00e1n stressed in his daily appearance on Cuban television.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition: there were 374 cases aged between 20 and 39, 429 between 40 and 59 and 242 over 60.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Havana (592), Santiago de Cuba (130) and Mayabeque (123) were the provinces that registered the most infections after a total of 22,896 samples were processed. On the contrary, the special municipality of Isla de la Juventud still does not report any case.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">42.5% of those diagnosed were asymptomatic.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There were 1,170 discharges, in a day in which there were 28,557 hospitalizations, 6,878 active cases, and ICUs accounted for 132 patients: 50 in critical condition and 82 in serious condition.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In just 20 days in May, 22,921 cases have been reported, with an average of 1,146 per day.
