The National Museum of Fine Arts responded this Thursday that it does not accept the demand of a group of Cuban artists who signed a letter addressed to the institution to not exhibit their works.<\/span><\/p>\n

The petition, made in solidarity with Luis Manuel Alc\u00e1ntara, is signed by Tania Bruguera, Sandra Ceballos, Tom\u00e1s S\u00e1nchez, Marco Castillo, Reinier Leyva Novo, Celia Gonz\u00e1lez and Yunior Aguiar, Sandra Ramos, Douglas Arguelles, Carlos Garaicoa, C\u00e9sar Leal, Jorge Luis Marrero, Fernando Rodr\u00edguez, Consuelo Casta\u00f1eda, Ibrahim Miranda, Carlos A. Garc\u00eda de la Nuez, Cirenaica Moreira, Juan Pablo Ballester, Jorge Wellesley, Javier Castro, Alberto Jorge Carol, Gustavo Acosta and Ana Albertina Delgado \u00c1lvarez.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe National Museum of Fine Arts has received the request of some Cuban artists that their works, which are part of the Museum\u2019s collection, not be exhibited to the public and that they be removed from the institution\u2019s website,\u201d said the cultural institution on its <\/span>Facebook page<\/span><\/a>. The demand \u201cdoes not agree with our institution\u2019s vocation of service or with the interest of the public to which it owes itself.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
