{"id":240041,"date":"2021-06-07T14:50:15","date_gmt":"2021-06-07T18:50:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/?p=240041"},"modified":"2021-06-07T14:50:15","modified_gmt":"2021-06-07T18:50:15","slug":"coronavirus-cases-in-cuba-exceed-150000-infections","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/coronavirus\/coronavirus-cases-in-cuba-exceed-150000-infections\/","title":{"rendered":"Coronavirus cases in Cuba exceed 150,000 infections"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/coronavirus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SARS-CoV-2<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> virus has already produced 150,103 infections in Cuba with the 1,185 cases on Sunday <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/salud.msp.gob.cu\/parte-de-cierre-del-dia-6-de-junio-a-las-12-de-la-noche-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">reported today<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP), which also reported 13 deaths and 173 patients in ICUs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The figure for the ICUs, where 58 people were in critical condition and 115 were in serious condition, is equal to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/coronavirus\/cuba-registers-highest-number-of-covid-19-patients-in-icus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the highest record just 24 hours before<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. A total of 26,036 people were under some type of hospitalization yesterday due to the pandemic.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The deceased are five women and eight men between the ages of 39 and 89, residing in municipalities of Havana, Matanzas, Mayabeque, Artemisa, Ciego de \u00c1vila and Santiago de Cuba.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"es\" dir=\"ltr\">Se confirmaron 1 185 nuevos casos de <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/COVID19?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#COVID19<\/a>, para un acumulado de 150 103 .<\/p>\n<p>5 917 casos activos<br \/>5 744 evoluci\u00f3n cl\u00ednica estable <br \/>58 pacientes en estado cr\u00edtico<br \/>115 pacientes en estado grave<br \/>1 025 fallecidos<br \/>143 105 pacientes recuperados <br \/>2 evacuados<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/hoELOt1f9M\">https:\/\/t.co\/hoELOt1f9M<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/NSWNxtAEoJ\">pic.twitter.com\/NSWNxtAEoJ<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Ministerio de Salud P\u00fablica de Cuba (@MINSAPCuba) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MINSAPCuba\/status\/1401907311862505474?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 7, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The COVID-19 death toll now stands at 1025 and the fatality rate remains at 0.68%. Just in June, so far there have been 60 deaths.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Regarding infections, the majority occurred due to autochthonous transmission (1,051), 1,107 were contacts of confirmed cases and 34 acquired the virus abroad, a record mostly affected by Cuban travelers from Russia (32), Spain (one) and Venezuela (one).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">10 foreigners also tested positive, seven of them \u201cimported cases.\u201d On the day, according to the MINSAP, 20,992 PCR samples were processed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By age group: 194 were under 20 years; 391 were aged between 20 and 39 years; 410 were between 40 and 59 years; and 190 were over 60 years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Regarding territories, despite experiencing a discreet decline, Havana accounted for the highest number of cases: 398. It is the first time since April 1 that the capital has reported less than 400 daily cases and, according to Dr. Francisco Dur\u00e1n, this is good news although \u201cthe chickens shouldn\u2019t be counted before they hatch.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nine municipalities in the capital, along with two from Mayabeque and one from Pinar del R\u00edo, concentrated 31.7% of the transmission in the last 15 days. Quivic\u00e1n continues to have the highest rates, followed by Sandino, which once again increased its cases at this point.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The incidence rate in Cuba in this period dropped slightly to 147.4 per 100,000 inhabitants.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The other territories that reported the most cases on this day were: Santiago de Cuba (165) and Pinar del R\u00edo (134). Only the special municipality of Isla de la Juventud did not report infections.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Yesterday 1,156 discharges were reported, according to the MINSAP, which also reported the existence of 5,917 confirmed active cases of the disease.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Of those diagnosed, 46.4% were
