400;\">, Nicaragua, Venezuela and China on its \u201cblack list\u201d of countries that \u201cdo not do enough to combat trafficking in persons,\u201d and warned of problems in countries such as Israel or Saudi Arabia, according to the new State Department report.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThis crime is an affront to human rights and human dignity,\u201d stressed Antony Blinken, Secretary of State, when presenting the annual report.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Blinken also asserted that human trafficking has \u201ca disproportionate weight\u201d on those who \u201care oppressed by other injustices\u201d in developing countries and warned that the pandemic has \u201cexacerbated\u201d the problems among the most vulnerable.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The list, of a total of 17 countries, is completed by: Afghanistan, Algeria, Myanmar, Comoros, Eritrea, Guinea-Bissau, Iran, North Korea, non-humanitarian and non-commercial aid for sanctioned countries or the exclusion of loans from institutions, such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) if so decided by U.S. President Joe Biden.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On Cuba, the report highlighted the \u201cgovernment pattern to profit from labor export programs with strong indications of forced labor, particularly its foreign <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/tag\/cuban-doctors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">medical missions<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> program.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is an argument raised by Washington since the previous Donald Trump administration, which has been repeatedly refuted by Havana, which defends the \u201chumanistic and solidarity\u201d value of its health collaborations, and ensures that such accusations from the U.S. are part of a \u201ccampaign of discredit and lies\u201d against the island\u2019s medical cooperation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cuba, which has sent dozens of health brigades to some 40 countries during the COVID-19 pandemic, claims to maintain a policy of \u201czero tolerance\u201d with human trafficking and to combat it both in its territory and internationally, through cooperation with organizations such as Interpol and the United Nations, as <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.acn.cu\/mundo\/81324-ratifica-cuba-politica-de-tolerancia-cero-ante-la-trata-de-personas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ratified this week<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by its representative at the Human Rights Council, in Geneva, Switzerland.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"I4JyqiizpL\"><p><a Nicaragua, the State Department pointed out that the Nicaraguan government \u201ccontinues to downplay the seriousness of human trafficking in the country despite reports from civil society about an increase in victims in 2020.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the case of Venezuela, it warned that the \u201cauthorities offer support and a permissive environment for non-state armed groups,\u201d including illegal Colombian organizations \u201crecruiting and using child soldiers for the armed conflict and sex trafficking while they operate in Venezuelan territory with impunity.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And as for China, the U.S. Department of State highlighted Beijing\u2019s \u201cheinous\u201d actions against Uighurs and other Muslim minorities in the western province of Xinjiang, where, according to the report, nearly a million people are the object of forced labor.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" efforts to curb human trafficking \u201care neither serious nor sustained\u201d; or Saudi Arabia, of which it indicates that it does not respect the \u201cminimum standards of protection\u201d for foreign workers, many of them victims of this crime.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The State Department estimates that about 25 million people around the world suffer under the
