The president of Cuba and first secretary of the <\/span>Communist Party<\/span><\/a> (PCC), <\/span>Miguel D\u00edaz-Canel<\/span><\/a>, urged members to \u201cclose ranks\u201d in the face of the difficulties facing the Caribbean country. The speech closed the 2nd Plenum, which was attended by Army General Ra\u00fal Castro.<\/span><\/p>\n

In his speech, D\u00edaz-Canel urged \u201cto close ranks, to fight for our problems, to fight creatively,\u201d which, he said, \u201cis part of the struggle,\u201d according to state media reports from the meeting, held this weekend in the Havana Convention Center and to which the foreign press did not have access.<\/span><\/p>\n
