The exception of tariff payment on import of food, hygiene items and medicine in the luggage of passengers arriving in Cuba will be valid until June 30, 2022, as announced by the <\/span>General Customs of the Republic of Cuba (AGR) on its official website.<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The measure <\/span>was taken on July 16<\/span><\/a>, when the Ministry of Finance and Prices issued Resolution 309 published in the <\/span>Gaceta Oficial<\/span><\/i> No. 62, Extraordinary, in which it established the flexibility of the customs regulations in force in this regard until December 31 of this year.<\/span><\/p>\n

In this way, the Cuban government met a demand from its citizens, inside and outside the country, who have been suffering from the lack of these products, motivated, among other causes, by the deep economic crisis that the island is suffering \u2014 aggravated by the COVID-19 pandemic \u2014, the postponement of economic reforms and the U.S. economic embargo.<\/span><\/p>\n

Considering that the complex situation persists, groups of Cuban emigrants also carried out a campaign with the aim of keeping the measure in force, which, unsurprisingly, has enjoyed wide acceptance by the population.<\/span><\/p>\n
