{"id":247556,"date":"2022-01-01T12:12:04","date_gmt":"2022-01-01T17:12:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/?p=247556"},"modified":"2022-01-01T12:12:04","modified_gmt":"2022-01-01T17:12:04","slug":"cuba-establishes-procedure-for-state-inspection-related-to-animal-welfare","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/cuba\/cuba-establishes-procedure-for-state-inspection-related-to-animal-welfare\/","title":{"rendered":"Cuba establishes procedure for state inspection related to animal welfare"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The way in which Cuba will implement the state inspection on <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/tag\/animal-welfare\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">animal welfare<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was indicated in one of the most recent editions of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/tag\/gaceta-oficial\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gaceta Oficial<\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, according to the state newspaper <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Granma<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In its <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gacetaoficial.gob.cu\/sites\/default\/files\/goc-2021-o151.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">number 151, of December 29, 2021<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gaceta Oficial<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> lists the authorities empowered to face violations, apply the provisions and resolve the appeals filed against the measures taken in compliance with animal welfare.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The procedure is the responsibility of the individuals and legal entities owners, that hold and possess animals, according to the provisions of Decree-Law 31, and contemplates that the inspectors of the state inspection systems of the Ministry of Agriculture, once the offending conduct is known, will immediately apply the corresponding measure as established.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For this application, the inspectors must have evidence, ratified by a commission, referring to the offending conduct in question, as well as presenting documentary evidence. According to the source, appeals can be filed against these measures before the Municipal Delegate of Agriculture, within a period of five working days following notification.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"vwApIhKKrL\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/cuba\/animal-welfare-the-complexities-of-a-decree-law\/\">Animal welfare: the complexities of a Decree-Law<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;Animal welfare: the complexities of a Decree-Law&#8221; &#8212; OnCubaNews English\" src=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/cuba\/animal-welfare-the-complexities-of-a-decree-law\/embed\/#?secret=MoIGcXWHm8#?secret=vwApIhKKrL\" data-secret=\"vwApIhKKrL\" width=\"500\" height=\"282\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This resolution is applicable to the Director General of the National Animal Health Center, the Director of Inspection of the central body of the Ministry of Agriculture, the provincial and municipal delegates of agriculture and the acting inspectors of the agriculture system.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Authorized authorities may also call for extraordinary inspections when they learn through complaints, reports or extraordinary events by phone, mail, social networks or any other means, of the existence of infringing conduct, or mistreatment that affects animal welfare.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On July 10, Decree-Law No. 31 &#8220;On Animal Welfare&#8221; came into force, which was approved months before by the Council of State. The regulation responds to concerns and needs raised for several years by animal lovers and organizations in the country and regulates the principles, duties, rules and purposes regarding the care,
