This particular operation will contribute to face the health crisis through the development of vaccines\u201d and \u201cwill also contribute to the economic reactivation of the country,\u201d BCIE Executive President Dante Mossi said in a statement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The loan, of which no information on the financial conditions was given, seeks to \u201cstrengthen capacities in the development and production\u201d of medicines, medical equipment and COVID-19 vaccines, of which Cuba has developed three that it is applying en masse to its population and even exporting, albeit to a limited extent.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The \u201cspecific objectives\u201d include \u201cachieving higher levels of economic productivity through the development of innovative products of great importance in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic,\u201d the BCIE indicated.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Specifically, the aim is to take advantage of this financing to increase the production of \u201cinjectable antibiotics, parenteral solutions (serums), generic and biosimilar drugs, diagnostic kits, medical equipment and specific COVID-19 vaccines,\u201d as well as the acquisition of supplies and medical protection material to prevent contagion.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"3OEastZDDi\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/cuba\/cuba-and-iran-alliance-on-covid-19-vaccine\/\">Cuba and Iran alliance on COVID-19 vaccine<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;Cuba and Iran alliance on COVID-19 vaccine&#8221; &#8212; OnCubaNews English\" src=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/cuba\/cuba-and-iran-alliance-on-covid-19-vaccine\/embed\/#?secret=zKXan8qIBi#?secret=3OEastZDDi\" data-secret=\"3OEastZDDi\" width=\"500\" height=\"282\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It also seeks the \u201cmodernization of technology\u201d and \u201cdiversification to benefit the national health system and that of other countries in the region,\u201d according to the BCIE.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The BCIE is a development bank founded by several Central American countries, although its partners also include Mexico, Colombia, Argentina and Spain, which seeks to promote economic integration and balanced economic and social development in the Central American region.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is the first line of financing that the Central American Bank for Economic Integration grants to Cuba.
