href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/tag\/cuban-vaccines-against-covid-19\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">own COVID-19 vaccines<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to be sent to countries in the Global South, according to the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.granma.cu\/cuba\/2022-02-07\/susan-sarandon-elogia-el-trabajo-de-cuba-en-la-produccion-de-vacunas-contra-la-covid-19\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">official newspaper <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Granma<\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe embargo is the only thing standing in the way,\u201d said the actress, recognized for her social and political activism, and for her commitment to organizations such as the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/tag\/unicef\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">United Nations Children\u2019s Fund (UNICEF)<\/span><\/a><span television, also wrote in her profile on the aforementioned social network that \u201cthe time has come to end the embargo and let Cuba breathe,\u201d while inviting her followers to join that position.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The also movie, theater and television producer is known worldwide for her remarkable performances that have earned her five Oscar nominations, an award she won in 1995 for her leading role in <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dead Man Walking<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which was directed by Tim Robins.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition, she is well remembered for her interpretation of Louise, in the film <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thelma &amp; Louise<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, an intense road movie in which she shared the leading role with Geena Davis, and which was directed by Ridley Scott in 1991.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Along with her career, it has been common to see her enrolled in the defense of various social causes, whether in favor of the right to abortion, in support of immigrants, or campaigning in Nepal for the construction of houses for the most vulnerable people, among many others.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The
