JIT Deporte Cubano (@jit_digital) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jit_digital\/status\/1513889787375202304?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 12, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Said entity, which has received the support of several former players and active players, as well as a group of fans from inside and outside the island, announced that one of its objectives was to form a team with players inserted in the Major Leagues (MLB) to represent Cuba in international tournaments, including the 2023 <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">World Classic<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In this sense, the FCB document indicates that it rejects what it considers a \u201cnew monstrosity created by enemies of the Revolution,\u201d and points out that its position has the public support of the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) and other international organizations.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"67atao54l0\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/cuba\/sports-cuba\/baseball-world-confederation-rejects-team-with-mlb-players-without-support-from-cuban-federation\/\">Baseball: World Confederation rejects team with MLB players without support from Cuban federation<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;Baseball: World Confederation rejects team with MLB players without support from Cuban federation&#8221; &#8212; OnCubaNews English\" src=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/cuba\/sports-cuba\/baseball-world-confederation-rejects-team-with-mlb-players-without-support-from-cuban-federation\/embed\/#?secret=xbP5dqBOy8#?secret=67atao54l0\" data-secret=\"67atao54l0\" width=\"500\" height=\"282\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">About the WBSC, the text highlights the \u201clong and fruitful working relations,\u201d \u201cincreased in recent years by its president Riccardo Fraccari and the unfortunately deceased Higinio V\u00e9lez Carri\u00f3n.\u201d In addition, it states that \u201cproviding legitimacy to the ACPBP would set a disastrous precedent for the development of baseball worldwide.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In turn, the FCB questions the \u201cmarkedly political and discriminatory\u201d purposes of the newly created organization, as well as its declared intention to \u201cusurp the role assigned to the FCB in terms of forming and endorsing the participation of teams from our country in international events, including the World Classic, contractually linked to the World Baseball Softball Confederation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Regarding relations with the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/tag\/cuba-and-mlb\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">MLB<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (another of the organizers of the Classic), the Cuban federation expressed in its statement that it intends to extend the \u201crespectful, ethical and professional\u201d rapprochement that led to the agreement between the two entities signed in December 2018 and subsequently disabled by the Trump administration.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The FCB underlines that it aspires to maintain a stable and non-politicized relationship with the MLB \u201cthat guarantees the natural flow of Cuban players to and from that circuit\u201d and that the ill-fated agreement represented \u201can effective tool against illegal emigration, human trafficking and other risks to our players and their families.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For the Cuban side, vetoing the aforementioned agreement meant stripping the FCB of relations similar to those that the MLB maintains with various leagues in the world such as the Japanese, Korean, and Taipei, among others.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, the document does not refer to the arguments of the detractors of the agreement and the administration of then President Trump, who pointed out that the FCB was a Cuban government organization, and its relationship with the MLB violated the provisions of the economic and financial embargo imposed by the United States more than six decades ago.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The FCB also points out in its document that <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/tag\/cubans-in-major-league-baseball\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">those who play in the\u00a0MLB<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> do not constitute exceptions in its purpose of summoning Cuban players residing abroad for certain international commitments, and that when the time comes \u201cthe calls will be designed based on the prominence of the event and the technical-tactical demands.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Other issues addressed in the statement were Cuba\u2019s vision of the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Caribbean Series<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the relationship with the Caribbean Professional Baseball Confederation (CBPC). It recognizes that tournament \u201cas a natural competitive scenario for the champion of our National Series,\u201d taking into account that Cuba was one of its founding countries. Thus, it defends the right to have full membership in the CBPC, a position that it has assumed during the editions organized between 2014 and 2019 to which Cuba attended as a guest.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Relations between the FCB and the CBPC were markedly damaged when Cuba <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jit.cu\/NewsDetails.aspx?idnoticia=136708\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">questioned<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the position of the regional body and its president, the Dominican Juan Francisco Puello, and considered that they yielded to \u201carbitrary pressure from the United States\u201d to prevent the Cuban team from obtaining the visas to attend the 59th edition of the tournament that was held in San Juan, Puerto Rico in early 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition to the election of the new president, the Cuban Baseball Federation (FCB) also renewed the members of its executive.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jit.cu\/NewsDetails.aspx?idnoticia=313447\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">information from <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jit<\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, P\u00e9rez Pardo, who has served as national commissioner since September 2021, has a doctorate in Physical Culture Sciences and succeeds Higinio V\u00e9lez Carri\u00f3n, who died on May 12 of that year due to complications associated with COVID-19.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">From now on, the positions of vice president will be held by Rodolfo Puentes Zamora and Germ\u00e1n Mesa Fresneda, two former players with notable careers in the National Series and in international tournaments, the media reported.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Carlos del Pino Mu\u00f1oz will act as Secretary General of the entity, Luis Daniel del Risco del R\u00edo will remain in the position of Treasurer and the members will be Margarita Mayeta Hierrezuel, Eros Bernal Morales, V\u00edctor Jos\u00e9 Cuesta Padr\u00f3n, Yovani Arag\u00f3n Rodr\u00edguez, Judith Langaney Marrero and Wilfredo
